This place was terrific. I would definitely stay here again. It isn't the least expensive furnished place you will find in Austin but it is worth the money.
I stayed in April 2015 for five days. The owner asked me to review online. I'm not a big online reviewer but for this place I agreed. I booked through an online travel site.
It's a little hard to describe. It is a modern cedar and concrete structure guest house on a big corner lot with two other houses. But it's out on the front of the lot, so it's not like it's stuck in some backyard or such. It sits right on the corner, in a really nice landscaped area.
The owners clearly went to a lot of work on this place. It's not huge - around 600 to 700 square feet, but it's more than comfortable for two people.
The ceilings are very high. It's an open space but the sleeping area has nice privacy screens around it. Everything is modern but comfortable. That's not always the case with modern architecture.
Kitchen and bath are amazing. Kitchen is very well set up.
The location can't be beat. You can be downtown in five or ten minutes by car. You can be at Town Lake (the Colorado River, for you out of towners) in five minutes.
We took Uber several times. It was about $7 to go anywhere downtown, and it was never more than a few minutes to get one.
There's four or five really good restaurants one block away. Cippolina has fantastic thin crust pizza. Looks very upscale but actually prices are ok. Fresh Plus grocery one block away is I think the original location of what became Whole Foods eventually. It's got a huge wine and beer selection, and a great deli.
There's a lot of outdoor seating also. The corner gets a lot of breeze so I'd imagine even in summer it'd be nice, at least at night.
Not much else to say. A few small things. The electronic locks are great. You don't have to remember to take keys. And there were even USB ports and electrical outlets set up on the bedside table and in the living area so you don't have to hunt down an electrical outlet to charge your phone and laptop.
The WIFI was blazing fast. The owner says it's the new ATT 1 gibabyte service.
The TV is massive but we aren't really TV watchers so other than the local news we didn't use it much.
There were little bath soaps, shampoo, conditioner, etc. when we arrived. That was a nice touch.
There were also about ten K-Cups for the Keurig coffeemaker. That was also a nice touch.
There was a black binder filled with local restaurant recommendations, some neighborhood history, and a lot of other useful information.
We didn't drive but there's parking for one vehicle right next to the property. But it has a large oak tree over it, so likely wouldn't be good for a tall truck or SUV.
In summary this was a really unusual place in great shape in a fantastic location. It is...
Read moreOK. If you want a genuine 5 star experience, this is the place to trust. We recently completed a 2 1/2 week stay in the 1629 Waterston Avenue Cottage and it was quite literally, the best VRBO experience in our much traveled history. From the correspondence with the Hosts initially all the way through checkout. Brian is as good as it gets in ensuring your stay is everything you want it to be, A very personal, but certainly not intrusive in any way, touch to hosting your stay. Honestly, my wife and I now consider Brian a friend because of his professional and personal attention.
Furnished Housing pays attention to the details in their homes. They have extensive experience in managing both short and long term rentals and it shows in the cleanliness, comfort touches, decorations, furnishings, communication, etc.
Our stay was intended to be one week - we were there due to a remodel of our home in Western Travis County. We had to extend twice while there and Brian was so gracious in accommodating us. As ready as we were to get back to our home, we hated to leave the property because it was so warm and homey, and because of the attention we received from the owners. Like I say, we live in Austin and we are honestly planning another stay in Clarksville at this property because of our experience. As a CPA in public practice for many years, I intimately understand what a quality company looks like. This is a QUALITY COMPANY and if I was not retired, I'd be asking for their business because of my overall experience.
In summary - run, don't walk, if you have the opportunity to stay at one of these rentals. I give Furnished Housing and its owners the...
Read moreWow! This set the bar high for subsequent airbnb experiences. The newly renovated studio is terrific with many high-end upgrades including remote, electronic shades for the upper windows in this spacious home with 16-foot ceilings! The massive LED flat-screen was a nice addition along with high-tech locks that make the need for keys unnecessary. The neighborhood is superbly located and the community has a rich history. I felt like a local who was warmly greeted by all of the neighbors as I strolled down the street each day to the coffee house, restaurants and shops just a block away from the beautifully landscaped home that boasts old-growth trees. Far superior to any hotel stay, I was delighted to have this as my first airbnb experience. Brian was attentive and gracious in welcoming me to the property. The welcome letter he sends you is a terrific guide to the home and certainly to the must-visit places in the neighborhood. The welcome letter is as attentive to detail as is his attention to detail in providing all of the needs and wants a guest could ask for in their stay. The walk to the center of the city is perhaps 10 minutes (I walk fast) and up to UT Austin is a bit longer (~15 min) but a beautiful stroll none-the-less. Uber is easy and inexpensive in Austin and rides across town are no more than 5-10 dollars so it makes this sought after Austin location perfect. I will certainly look to Brian for another reservation at this property when I return to town. Thanks for a...
