I took the silver smithing class with my sister and uncle, and overall, we had a fun time and walked away with some cute, handmade jewelry. The environment was relaxed, and it was a great way to spend time together doing something creative. That said, the DIY and educational side of the experience left a bit to be desired. While I appreciated that the instructor wanted to ensure things turned out well, they ended up doing a lot of the steps I would have liked to try myself—like marking the metal for cutting, lining up components, setting things in place for soldering, and even placing the stone in the setting. It sometimes felt more like I was watching my piece being made than actually making it. I also wish the instructor had taken more time to walk us through the tools we were using. I left without knowing what half of them were called, which is a bummer considering part of the fun is learning the craft itself. It would’ve helped if they had demonstrated techniques on a separate piece instead of doing it directly on mine. There were moments I had to assert myself just to get a turn—like saying, “Okay, let me do this part now.” I was totally fine with the instructor being hands-on for things like torch work or sanding (safety first!), but I would’ve appreciated more opportunities to do the simpler steps myself. Also, just as a heads-up: there’s quite a bit of downtime while waiting on things like pickling or polishing. I wish I’d known ahead of time—I would’ve brought a snack or drink to enjoy during the lulls. In short, it was a good experience socially and I love having a piece I helped make—but I would have enjoyed it more if the class leaned a bit further into the “do-it-yourself” part.

Wow—what an absolutely unforgettable experience at Sisu! I went with a group of friends, and we’re still talking about it days later. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely welcomed and immersed in something truly special. The energy, the atmosphere, the creativity—it all blended together to create something beyond just an outing. It felt like a journey! Sisu is such an exciting and unique addition to Austin. It’s not just a studio—it’s a space that inspires you, challenges you, and leaves you feeling more connected to yourself and those around you. I genuinely walked away feeling energized, enlightened, and so incredibly grateful for the experience. I also learned so much along the way—it’s amazing how much insight and inspiration you can get in just one visit. Whether you're going with friends, on your own, or looking for a place to reset, reflect, or just try something new, Sisu is the spot. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Don’t miss out—this place is for everyone, and it’s something you truly have to experience for yourself!

I had an exceptional experience at Sisu Studio taking the silversmithing class. The instructor was fantastic. They explained everything so clearly and made each step feel approachable, even for a beginner. What I loved most was that I got to do so much of the work myself. I truly felt hands-on and empowered throughout the entire process, and I learned so much about the craft of silversmithing. By the end of the class, I had created a beautiful ring that I’m genuinely proud of. The whole experience was fun, engaging, and incredibly rewarding. I can’t recommend this class enough if you’re looking to learn something new, be creative, and walk away with a piece you’ll actually wear. Sisu Studio is too good to be true!! Can’t wait to come back and make more pieces as well as continue to learn about silversmithing. Hats off to the Sisu team!!
