Aside from the wordplay moniker, this place is a 3-fer! It has wine, coffee, and beer! There is literally a wall of beer and some of them are rare finds. The draught list runs to gamut from local to national and there were some great beers I have not seen readily available around Austin. It has a very “Mueller” ambiance in that it is industrial meets contemporary in décor. I’m not sure if seating is limited or abundant because there seemed to be an odd rotation of musical chairs happening where people who were standing at the bar drinking after ordering would migrate to tables and vice versa. My friend and I picked a stool and planted. They have pour/pricing options I have not seen before in that they offer 5oz and 10oz pours with various prices per based on the beer. I’m not sure if the somewhat inflated price per pour is because of the area, the rent for their location, or because they are new. But, there was not a “throwaway” beer on tap, so you will at least be getting quality for the price. The staff here is super engaging and beer knowledgeable (I would expect nothing less from a place like this) and the owner/manager was an absolute delight! I would like to come back and explore their wine and coffee options and maybe leave w/a rare beer find...
Read moreI love the idea of this place; I just want them to be better at coffee. Everyone I’ve ever met who works there is incredibly nice, it’s clean, they have a great beer and wine selection but a couple of drawbacks for me are: (1) coffee is never ready at opening; sometimes it’s not ready until the first customer asks for it and then it’s prepared (this has happened to me multiple times 30 min after opening) (2) corkage fee per person seems counterintuitive to wanting people to stick around and try your non-draft beer
But again I love the vibe, the people, even the owners have responded to my feedback saying they’ll try to improve but I often go during work hours and need my coffee before I start a mtg and it’s just not reliable enough to drag me out of my house to drive 20 min and then not get coffee right away when I have a mtg starting...
Read moreI really hate to leave 1 stars and I rarely do but this place was kind of a joke. No one could really help me find what I was looking for and when I asked about a specific grape, they looked completely lost and pretty clueless. I even showed them the name of the grape on my phone incase my pronunciation was off. One of the guys showed me a white wine and told me it was good but when I asked if it was the Grüner Veltliner, he just read the back and told me the grape variety wasn't listed but that it was a good wine.
I ended up with a Nebbiolo (that I found myself), and did not feel inclined to tip. The guy that saw my no-tipping sale treated me even worst after he saw that I didn't tip. Why should I tip if you were useless, incompetent, and utterly clueless?
