Was kicked out while in town to see family during a medical emergency that involved my mother's rapidly declining health. Had my 15 year old son and cousin in one room and me and my boyfriend in another. Two night stay for 2 rooms pre-paid with $200 deposit. Arrived late at night and was kicked out the following morning before noon. Both rooms were asked to leave. I was not even present during this event. I was the one who rented both rooms in my name. When asked to leave , I was not notified of any of this happening. My son and cousin were still asleep in their room. My boyfriend was upset due to the stress of our circumstances, and was walking out of the room to go smoke. Door closed behind him and locked him out, I was showering. He knocked on the door to get back in and when I didn't answer he kicked the door in frustration (Not hard enough to even leave a mark). I then finished showering and got dressed to leave. I left and gave him the key to get back in on my way out, only to find out an hour later they were being kicked out. This establishment kept the money for both rooms for both nights and the deposit for both rooms, didn't notify the person who rented the room and on top of it , they were allowed 20 mins to pack everything up and and check out. My family was escorted out at EXACTLY 20 mins. They barely let my son grab everything out of our room before walking them out the door. Horrible, HORRIBLE customer service as well as management who obviously believes they are better than and above the guests that stay with them. Which couldn't be farther from the truth seeing how they were so quick to use any excuse they could to kick my family out on the street in sub-freezing temperatures and then arrogant enough to then steal our rooms' deposits that we were promised would be returned upon our departure. This made our entire trip that much harder on my family when we then had to sleep all 4 of us on my sister's couch for 2 more nights because we didn't have the money to get another room and couldn't return home because I was affording my son the opportunity to see his grandmother in what was looking to be her last days with us. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this place, unless you like being viewed as a mere peasant by people with what I can only assume are severe psychological and self esteem issues from being bullied in high school and not being able to cope with the fact that they would unavoidably grow up to amount to nothing more than snooty, stuck up, fascist hotel managers who try to compensate by swinging their obviously inferior manhood's around and forcing a family struggling to be with another member of the family during one of the hardest moments of that members life. So thank you, Sleep Inn of Bend, I really appreciate your warped and twisted take on the "hospitality" industry. Have you actually looked up what that word meant? Or did you suck, squeeze, bang, and blow your way up the corporate ladder at your high school summer job when they kicked you out of school for having to have your stomach pumped after "study group" with the entire football team in the locker room? And by the way, I don't appreciate you trying make a point by responding in such a childish manner as to respond to my 1 star rating, RATING, not even review, just a rating that apparently took a big chunk out of your already infinitesimally small ego, and try to passive aggressively call me out in front of the entirety of the internet. So congrats, Sleep Inn of Bend, Oregon, you've earned yourselves a review instead. Is...
Read moreOur room was nice and clean when we arrived. The bed was super comfortable. The pillows were surprisingly comfortable even though they were half the size of a normal pillow. King beds are supposed to have king size pillows, not children's size pillows. The only down fall to our stay was the fire alarm going off for no reason in the middle of the night. Everyone woke up to a ear piercing screeching alarm at 5:00 am. We all were stuck outside for 35 minutes while the fire department cleared the hotel. The last time we stayed in a Choice Hotel that was located in Roseburg, Oregon the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night too. The night workers at that hotel stayed inside making sure everyone was evacuated before they evacuated. This time around, the night worker was the first one to evacuate. The was 2 separate guests in wheel chairs that didn't make it out until just before the hotel was cleared. The fire department guys helped them outside. Both of guests in wheel chairs were having a hard time hearing for several minutes after the alarm was turned off. The hotel worker should have been trained on how to evacuate the guests (especially the disabled guests) before evacuating themselves. We watched at least 6 guests (maybe more) pack their vehicles and leave because of the false alarm. They were not as forgiving as the rest of us guests were. If there had been a real fire, the guests in wheel chairs would have easily died from smoke inhalation without a doubt. The hotel worker should have been trained to know which rooms had disabled guests so that way they could have helped them get out of the hotel faster. I think all hotels should train all their employees to know what to do in this type of situation. This particular gentleman had no clue what he was supposed to do in this type of situation. The fire department guys asked him a question and he had to call someone to find out the answer. He walked around outside pacing while talking to whoever almost the entire time we were evacuated. No apologies were given on behalf the hotel for the alarm going off or for not making sure the disabled were evacuated safely and quickly. They should have had their stay comped for them. Once we were cleared to go back inside, there was 4 of us that had forgotten to grab their room keys before evacuating. The hotel worker seemed more irritated that he had to give us all new keys. He was not apologetic in the least bit. The 4 of us just looked at each other kind of afraid to tell him we needed new keys to get back into our rooms. He obviously wasn't trained on what to do or how to act towards guests in this type of situation. He didn't show very good customer service skills or have empathy for anyone. Not even for the ones in wheel chairs. He could have held the door open for everyone while we returned inside. Instead, he let himself in first and everyone else followed afterwards. It was very clear he hadn't been trained very well. Hopefully, this review will help and the employees immediately get some much needed training so this situation doesn't happen again. The disabled guests should receive a refund too!!! Hopefully, their hearing came back the same day. They were inside for about 20-25 minutes having to hear that awful fire alarm. That could easily make someone lose their hearing after being forced to listen to it for that much time. Please train your...
Read moreThe room is clean, the shower is nice, location is pretty good, close to shopping and restaurants within walking distance under normal circumstances.
Here's the problem - we got here at 3:45 pm approximately and I checked in.
Was told to park in front parking lot. We did so but the parking lot is sheet ice. It's not normal ice. It's ice that's accumulated after snow, rain, freezing rain, more rain. The second my husband got out of the truck, he slipped, fell and went under the truck, injuring his thumb and shoulder. I slid from the passenger door all the way down to the tailgate but managed not to fall. Upon narrowly making it back into the hotel I immediately brought this to front desks attention and was informed that "maintenance" was currently putting down salt on the side of the hotel and would be working on the front next.
30 minutes later my husband went back out to retrieve something from our vehicle, and not only was there still no salt down, 2 other elderly gentleman were complaining about how dangerous it was.
Decided to walk to The Phoenix (same parking lot essentially) for dinner. Elderly man was on hotel sidewalk trying his best to not slip and fall to get into hotel. We had to actually get OFF the sidewalk and try to walk on patches of snow to get where we were going. Phoenix clearly rock salted their parking lot and sidewalks, as we had absolutely zero issues once there.
It's about 150 feet between the hotel and The Phoenix. The Phoenix has fantastic food and service btw.
Unfortunately, after dinner we had to walk back to the hotel through the parking lot of death and holy cow it actually got slicker. I recorded our slow and dangerous slip and slide across the Sleep Inn parking lot in our attempt to make it back to our room.
A room I paid $80 for...but they can't afford some rock salt to ensure the safety of their guests? Maybe they could borrow some from The Phoenix next door.
It's too bad really because it's a decent hotel and I would have given it a rather good rating.
I'm giving the front desk girl 5 stars because she actually tried to find rocksalt and tried calling the manager (who did not care). She also has been trying to use de-icer on the sidewalk to no avail.
Maintenance guy gets zero stars because he went home at 4 pm and didn't do the job he should've done. Manager gets negative stars and they better not try to blame anyone else for their ineptitude.
All of this could easily been avoided with some rock salt.
Maybe I'll go across the street to Wilco tomorrow morning and get some rocksalt for your parking lot since maintenance and management can't seem to sort out where to get any.
Update - upon arising in the morning, still no salt. Different gal at desk. I'm guessing she's the night shift gal. I also watched an employee almost turf it coming into work and thought, oh well, workers comp. Ultimately I discussed this with the night shift gal who actually seemed petrified and informed me she'd get the rock salt (that had allegedly not previously not existed). I watched her do it. She not only salted the sidewalk but the parking lot and around the vehicles of guests. Kudos to her! Based on her and her alone I'm going to up my rating slightly.
Again... pleasant staff. Clean room. Breakfast sufficient. Regard for guest...
