It was a train wreck from the start.
We scheduled a viewing in the observatory. But due to the clouds the viewing was cancelled for the night. I clearly understood it wasn't the restaurant's fault it was cloudy that day. But since we were meeting friends we decided to stay for dinner anyway.
The wait time was 30 minutes. Okay, we can do that. As we waited, we observed open tables where no one was sitting and numerous tables that sat for a long time before they were bused. When we finally got seated (30 minutes like they promised) it was actually at one of the tables that sat vacant the whole time.
The server was kind, helpful and friendly. Drinks arrived in short order. However, the food took FOREVER! Everyone's look great. Mine, well...I could tell by the withered sweet potato fries that something was wrong. I felt them and they were COLD. I felt my hamburger and it was cold also. It clearly sat while everyone eases dinners were being made.
I returned it to the server as he stood next to the kitchen and informed him everything was cold. He apologized and I returned to my table. He and a manager came back to the table and profusely apologized many times. I told them I understood problems happen and waited for them to get a new meal. By now it was 9pm and no one else was ordering dinner anymore. But I waited and waited and waited. My friends and family had finished their dinners by the time it finally arrived. I told the manager I was PISSED but I informed her it would not affect the server's tip as I used to be in the business. But I did expect that when they are fixing a ruined meal, I shouldn't have to wait as long as someone who just ordered. She repeatedly said she would comp my burger and she even got me another beer (despite the fact when I told her I wouldn't drink it because I only wanted one).
It was a good burger and the sweet potato fries were adequate. Oddly though, there were only half as many fries as there were on the original (cold) plate.
Finally the bill came. I was a little surprised to see the burger was still on the bill. While my sister grabbed the ticket to talk to the manager, I paid the bill. I even included the promised above average tip (again, I used to be in the business and I didn't think it was our server's fault).
The manager found me and asked for my credit card again to fix the bill. She apologized over and over and tried to make it right. I told her it was too late. I was done for the night. I also informed her I would no longer be going to their restaurant any more. I felt I was more than polite, more than patient and more than kind (with my tip). I can't believe after everything that happened that they never made it right by just paying attention and providing quality service like they should have from the start.
The sad part about it for me was I really loved the observatory they had on site and I will miss that more than anything else they...
Read moreDear Worthy Brewing, Your space on Bend’s east side is amazing. Absolutely stunning. We actually went twice yesterday because we wanted to bring a friend to come see it. Our first visit was amazing, the wings were big and meaty, buffalo sauce wasn’t just from a bottle of Franks. The bowl that we got was light and fresh, the golden beets and sweet potatoes were absolutely delicious.
Our second visit though, well, it almost seems like there is a lack of quality management that has caused a culture of not caring. We showed up for a couple pints at 8:45. Posted hours on the door, Yelp, Google, and even y’all’s social media all say that you close at 10. We are in the industry and understand how it is to get a last minute customer after a long day. But we had over an hour by the time we got there. Walked in, the ‘please wait to be seated’ sign was still out so we waited. Had 2 different wait staff walk by, make eye contact, and keep going. We then decided to try the bar, we really only wanted a pint and to hang out on the beautiful patio. One bartender running the show, with maybe 7 people sitting at the bar. He didn’t seem to be overly busy, but it did seem that he very intentionally did ‘busy’ work at the opposite end of the bar. Waited a few minutes and finally said screw it and waited back over by the host table/sign. Waited there another couple minutes before someone finally walked over. Asked if we wanted food, told him no just a couple pints, to which he directed us to the bar, as it would ‘be easier’. So back to the bar we went. He went to the bartender, whispered something and finally he came over and very clearly and begrudgingly took our drink order.
Ok, honestly if that was the end of it, I wouldn’t be here writing this review, but sadly, it wasn’t. The straw that broke the proverbial camels back was when our friend decided that he wanted to try y’all’s food. You see, we had been talking it up all afternoon and after he looked at the menu he wanted to try something. Mind you this was at 9:10 at this point, at the latest. So he went inside to that super friendly and energetic bartender (heavy sarcasm in case you missed it). Mr. Bartender stated that actually the kitchen is closed because they are slowly shifting to their winter hours. Seriously?? The biggest thing we tell people that are new to get into this industry is that you HAVE to stick to your posted hours.
Look, I still gave y’all 5 stars because I think you really could have something special. Y’all seriously need to get your night crew in shape. The whole situation screams mismanagement, and with the obvious investment that y’all have put into that place, I’m pretty sure you don’t want to...
Read moreWelcome to the one and only Worthy Brewing Company! After a day out with some friends and their kids while visiting town, we had the craving for food and wanted to check out a great place to eat and also have a good locally brewed beer.
In the evening (or any time after dark), a wonderful treat they offer too is they actually have an observatory with a BIG telescope and a very informative operator just up a few flights of stairs and up to the 3rd story.
On to the food and staff. Everyone we spoke with was very friendly and helpful, our server was great and did a nice job accommodating our requests and they even served the bottle of wine we ordered in a nice chilled container.
This place is suuuper cool! They have tons of plants outside to check out, they’re growing hops right on the edge of the parking lot and they have a row of greenhouses outside. We didn’t have time ask to take a tour of the facility, but I can only imagine all of the cool things they have to share and the building is very unique and has awesome construction and architecture. They have a nice upstairs seating area with a larger round propane fire pit to enjoy and heaters on the ceiling to keep you warm on a wintery bend day.
Outside on the patio they have two propane fire pits to warm up next to and a large amount of seating there too.
We got a round of brews that were very tasty and fun to drink, and their hot wings were delicious! I went for a Reuben and waffle cut sweet potato fries that were super yummy! We also tried their Chef Bromden’s Reality that was a tasty take on a chicken bacon flatbread, served on a fresh cooked flatbread, straight out of their pizza oven, BOMB! They also have a kids menu, which was great for one of the little ones in our party to get a delicious burger with grapes to snack on, on the side. We didn’t get a pizza this time, but they have an amazing pizza oven in the back, hot and ready to bust out a perfectly crispy and bubbly pizza like it came out of Italy.
To top the meal off, we added in a slice of their hot honey cheesecake that was a perfect treat at the end of the meal. Super delicious!
If you’re interested in taking a flight of great beer or want a nice meal to enjoy either mid day or evening time, I highly recommend you check out Worthy Brewing Company!
Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I wish you a wonderful time enjoying the stars, and having a delicious brew and...
