After spending our vacation hiking, white water rafting and horseback riding, a massage was definitely much needed. My husband and I were eager to get the 90 minute massage. Their prices at May Spa were so reasonable, we paid $115 each for 90 minutes. That's such a steal when other places are charging $120 for only 50mins.
But if you're looking for a fancy schmancy day spa, lower your expectations when coming here. This place is more about working your body to get all the knots out rather than creating a relaxing space. It's definitely hard to let your mind wander and relax when you can hear everything behind the walls of your room. Also, if you're not a fan of being exposed, let your masseuse know beforehand to not lower the blanket down to where you are least comfortable. I usually wear underwear when I get massages but I might as well have been naked because my masseuse pulled them down almost half way to get to the very lower part of my back. Personally, I don't really care about having my butt out. If you do, definitely speak up.
With all that being said, my husband and I had one of the best massages of our lives here. He got a stepping massage that he thought was excellent. He said his masseuse targeted all the problem areas he asked her to focus on. I opted for a pretty standard full body massage with medium to hard pressure. It was fantastic. I woke up this morning feeling less sore after all the physical activities of our trip. My favorite part of the massage was actually the facial and scalp massage. It was so relaxing. I would definitely choose May Spa over any fancy day spas. You get the best bang for your buck for an...
Read moreMy review is purely in regard to the massage I received. I feel like the prices are more than fair and the employees here are kind and offer great customer service.
I paid for a 90 min combo foot/full body. This was my second time here. I was very much looking forward to the foot part of the massage because I have sore feet.
The person doing my massage asked if I wanted medium or hard pressure, I asked for hard. I would say that 90% of the massage would be considered light pressure and I never once thought it was firm or hard. I was bummed about this since it was a deep tissue full body. That took off one star.
My other issue is that this wasn’t really a massage. It was more like a heavy rubbing in of the lotion or oil she was using. She didn’t massage my back or legs but rather just rubbed them in the sense like she was rubbing the product in to moisturize. Almost like if you have dry hands and put on hand cream to soothe the dryness. I didn’t leave feeling like I just received a massage, but rather left feeling like I just spent 115$ plus tip for an hour and a half of someone rubbing lotion all over my body. The foot massage was also disappointing because it was very similar to the full body. Lots of just rubbing with lotion or oil.
Overall I won’t be coming back here. Not because of any issues with the employees demeanor or facility, but based on the type of massage I wanted and thought I paid for (deep tissue) vs. what I got which...
Read moreI am 8 months pregnant. My little sister and I went out for "Galentines" because my husband was too busy to celebrate valentines with me. We decided to get massages and go out for dinner. We called ahead to make sure there was availability. I was afraid May Spa wouldn't be able to accommodate me because I'm pregnant but they did and did just as great if not better than the other, more expensive, places in town. I've gotten quite a few prenatal massages with each of my pregnancies. This one was great and the price could not be beat! My masseuse was very accommodating and communicative. She worked on what I told her was bothering me and my whole body and did such a great job. I will definitely return and definitely recommend this place...
