Finest Styles Barbershop — Local services in Berkeley

Coming from San Diego, I was nervous to get my first haircut anywhere else than the barber I would go to back home. But after going here I was very happy and satisfied. The barber was professional, gave every ounce of his attention to the style in questions and made sure to satisfy what my style of hair was aimed toward.

Now as for the critiques:

1. arrived 10 minutes early for a 6:50 appointment, to get my appointment started at 7:15. Resolutions? Yes, the barber was able to recognize that time error, and accommodated my hair needs beyond expectation — and was professional about it.
2. PRICE!! Back home the price for haircuts was a flat rate at 50$, here the rate was 55$ for a simple haircut and the taxes that follow (5$ tax) brought it up to 60 — it’s expensive for sure. 3)** Hard to find building — but this is not a critique of the business, just an observation. So make sure to follow the alleyway.

And for the Pros:

1. I mentioned to him that “I felt like you were doing art on my head” and it truly was that, amazing work.
2. when I asked him what “type” of taper he did, he said “I just followed what looked good [on you].” And trust this man’s judgement! He was able to deliver on the style of your likeness, big kudos. Now this may seem like a basic thing to follow in principle… but trust that not many barbers would do that type of work on a stranger — I felt like I was a longtime customer.
3. Lastly… amazing music. Jazz in combination with other music is very nice

I had been going to a local barber for basically all of my college years just for a trim on the sides and a little cut off the top, but my cousin suggested this place because he and I both loved his new haircut, so I tried this place out.

My hair and beard were super long, as I hadn't gotten a trim in 3 months. I went to try something new and nice, and the barber was unbelievably nice and willing to talk with me to help me figure out what I wanted. The beard trim was nothing I had ever gotten before, my haircut was short and crisp, and there was an immaculate attention to detail. That haircut lasted for 2 months, and it looked great throughout! The jazz music in the background perfected the ambiance. This review is based off their customer service when trying to contact them, not their actual service provided. I called multiple times across the span of a week and got hung up on everytime until the final one when I finally reached the voice-mail machine and it told me to text them and they would reach out back to me. I did and they have not contacted me back. Furthermore, their website says they "love the spontaneity of walk-ins" but the door was locked when I went at their opening and again an hour. Their pictures of their work look great, but I wouldn't know. I can't get in contact with them without making an appointment and paying the money upfront via their website.
