When we checked into our room, there was fresh pee soaking in the bed and they hadn’t changed the sheets. Yes, a strangers urine in the bed. I worked in hospitality before and have traveled a lot, so I am in the habit of always pulling the sheets back to check they look clean. Initially, the exterior blanket looked clean enough, if not a little dingy. But after pulling them back, I saw a large yellow stain about the size of a watermelon. I thought, “EW! Gross stain.” But figured that’s all it was, a stain. So I asked my fiancé to go ask for a change of sheets. He brought fresh sheets back and began to change the bed, and when he peeled the top sheet back, we realized there was an identical spot underneath- all the way down to the washable mattress protector. I was so disgusted when I realized, we dropped everything and went to tell the front desk. I wish I had taken pictures but I was so appalled and disgusted and really didn’t want to touch the bio-hazardous sheets again, so we just fled the room after my fiancé thoroughly washed his hands. When we told the front desk about the sheets being soaked in urine and not changed, she just went “Oh.” We asked if we could have a room change and she asked for our room keys. I should have just asked for a refund but we are moving cross country and were exhausted after driving all day, and this place has some of the best reviews in the area so we figured it was a fluke accident. Nope, the next room was disgusting. No surfaces had been wiped off, there were cup rings and crumbs on the night stand and table, splatters of something on the bathtub ledge that weren’t wiped off, and you guessed it MORE DIRTY SHEETS! There were fallen hairs so we had to ask for another set of sheets. We booked through a third party so getting a refund has been impossible. I will never return to a candlewood...
Read moreWe booked a room ahead of time to make sure we could find a pet friendly hotel since we were traveling across country with a small dog. Called, asked about the pet policy, was informed pets were welcomed, no fees or anything of the sort was mentioned.. We were super stoked to find an affordable, Pet welcoming place!
We got in late, around 3-4 AM. Met by the Receptionist named Janelle (guessing that's how you spell it) who made super shitty comments like "I didn't think you were going to show up" and proceeded to tell us about the 'pet fee of $75' which we were not informed about. Couldn't find anywhere else to sleep for the night since it was already so late, so whatever.
Then was told there was no complimentary breakfast, 'but they have eggs and breakfast stuff to make in our room.' ((They didn't. But they had Hot Pockets out of the box and a bunch of candy.)) They also have a pool and a 'borrow what you need' storage in the front. (ew?)
We entered the room, it was decently clean, again, we just needed a shower and a bed to sleep in for a few hours. Went to the front desk to ask for a couple more towels just for the receptionist to roll her eyes, still got the towels though !
Later on, boyfriend went to talk to her about a late check out, as we've traveled halfway across the country and desperately needed sleep which she said no, since we were not members.. (its not a 5 star hotel to have THAT crazy of an ego but whatever.)
Woke up with the morning receptionist banging on the door right at 11 am, boyfriend answered the door and explained our situation, which the morning receptionist was a lot more understanding and allowed us to check out at 1 pm which is the hospitality we needed from this long drive. Left around 1PM, never staying there again.
Bed was cozy, hospitality was NOT. I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreI booked the Candlewood Suites Bethlehem one year in advance for a college graduation weekend, and I booked two rooms at the same time—one for 4 people (my husband, me, and two adult children) and one for 1 person (grandma). The reservations system on the website offered two King Suites, which I booked. I erroneously assumed that a King Suite had a pullout couch since the King Suite was offered as an option for a customer seeking a room for 4 people. When we arrived, neither King Suite had had a pull-out couch, so 2 in my party of 4 had nowhere to sleep. We had an uncomfortable night, and we left a day early. After a series of unanswered messages to the manager and a complaint filed with headquarters, a customer service representative on the phone explained to me that when a room says it “accommodates” four people, that doesn’t necessarily mean it sleeps four people. 🤔 And when the manager in Bethlehem finally called me after I'd filed a complaint, she told me that when someone books two rooms at the same time, the booking algorithm assumes all members of the party can sleep in any room no matter what you input as number of people per room--which by the way, STILL wouldn't have accommodated my party totaling 5 people unless one adult child shared a bed with her grandma and the other adult child shared a bed with her parents. The manager also told me that the onus is on the customer to book one room at a time. Our two day stay cost over $800 because it was a graduation weekend, and the Candlewood Suites would not refund any of our money.||If you do roll the dice and book here, make sure you you book one room at a time, and consider calling to double check that they can actually “accommodate” everyone in your party with an actual bed...
