Every time we would venture up the Eastern Sierras, Black Sheep in Bishop was on the itinerary. It’s a cute, artsy coffee shop with local souvenirs and crafts. Unfortunately, this time around was a deep disappointment. I’m not sure if it was a one-off but the staff was extremely unwelcoming and seemed to not get along with one another. All four employees that we came into contact with appeared miserable.
While I love the fact that they make their own syrups, my Brown Sugar Soy Latte ($6.50) was blah. While alternative milks can be difficult to produce a foam, this was simply warm milk with sugar. My partner’s Americano was watered down and lukewarm. I didn’t know you could mess up an Americano… I used the restroom which was dirtier than a truck stop or port-o-potty. The rating is ultimately not about the coffee though, there are plenty of places that can offer great beans. The rating is more about being great at customer service when an issue occurs and I great appreciate that they took care of me when a problem came up. It makes that fresh cup taste that much sweet and I would certainly love a chance to visit the Bishop location...
Read more8a.m. on a Thursday. The BEST cup of coffee I EVER remember: lingering full rich flavor, no bitterness. The quiche was warm and moist, a blend of creative culinary inspirations. The atmosphere was festive with locals and globals eating, chatting, viewing art work, journaling, reading...some of us even broke into song and laughter was prevalent. The patio, where there was joyful canine admiration, was cool with colorful shade umbrellas. Ample parking in the shade, and cycle parking. Recycling. Black Sheep is a gathering place for introspection, innovation, creativity, critical thought, and communication. We have so much to be grateful for with this business in our community. Happy hour with brew on tap or bottle, non alcoholic hydration, yummy menu stuff like burritos, bagels, pastries, and soup, plus... open mike!! Go out of your way to experience the...
