We were early for check in and per a phone call a couple of days prior, whoever I spoke to indicated that yes, early check in was an option. My main inquiry was about keeping a vehicle parked there while we were off doing other things until an appropriate check in time (I was meeting up with a friend from another city) When we walked in, the desk clerk ignored us, never greeted us, never asked if we needed help. We just stood there as he continued to do other things, including walking around us with the vacuum cleaner to clean the entryway. Then he told another individual who had been walking by that he was walking over to the next door property. We stood there waiting the entire time without any acknowledgment from him. Once he got back I asked if we could be assisted. I inquired about early check-in, he told us it would be a $20 fee and there wasn't anything available. Then he proceeded to tell us how busy and overwhelmed he was and expressed the number of guests he had to personally check out that morning... and how they weren't willing to pay overtime. I'm really not sure why we were informed of all of this. It really did put a damper on our stay and I really wanted to book somewhere else but the hassle of going back through Expedia to cancel and possibly being charged we're not an option. Interaction was a far cry from the delightful person I spoke with on the phone when I called to inquire about parking one of our vehicles upon arrival to Bismarck. The room was reasonably cleaned, beds were comfortable however the carpet was very dirty. The bathroom was clean, and the shower was very nice. The morning breakfast was very good, however the coffee maker was empty. I went out to the front desk where they had a Keurig but there was any water in the Keurig and I was afraid to ask the front desk staff if they could fill it. The attendant who checked us in must have been really having a bad day which he apparently wanted to share with us to have. đ„ However, kudos to the nice young man who answered my call a few days earlier. The older gentleman who checked us in (or lack there of) needs to take a lesson from his you get...
Read moreI have never stayed at an Expressway Inn before, and now I would want to stay in one ALL the time. For the first time in a long time I was traveling/working with a friend and we needed two beds. The original reservation was for a room with a king bed. The staff quickly accommodated us and gave us a room with two beds. We go up to our room, and it was a 2 bedroom apartment!!! With full kitchen, and living room with couch, chairs, and dinner table. There were 3 big screen TV's, one in each room, and one in the living room. Beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was well laid out. They offered free breakfast in the morning, with hot and cold options, that varied from day to day. (It could have used more fruit options in the morning) The staff was unbelievably nice, and catered to our every request with a smile. I highly suggest staying here if you are visiting are traveling through Bismarck. The location is 10 minutes from the airport, across the street from the mall, and close to lots of restaurants, and very close to downtown. It was the perfect location. This hotel made my visit and stay in Bismarck fantastic, it wasn't like coming back to a hotel, it was like coming back home, it was that...
Read moreI do NOT recommend this hotel. I was in a double queen room last weekend. While the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean that is the only good thing I can say. The hallways had carpet which appeared to be out of the 70s and although I understand the hotel is being updated this is something that needs to be addressed. The room had a horrible musty smell and was dirty. We went out and bought air freshener and cleaners. Who knows what was in the carpet. The vents for the air conditioner and the vent in the bathroom were filthy. Surfaces like the top of the air conditioning control and light fixtures hadnât been cleaned in a very long time. There were bugs in the room - the front deskâs response to that was that it was summer and to be expected. We lost power in the room in the early morning. The front desk did not know where the break box was and did not have a flashlight. They did not clean the room at all - not even the trash bins had been emptied. The towels were still on the floor when we returned at 9 pm. The front desk staff were basically useless with everything. Stay far, far away...
