ne of the Best Dining Experiences in Town — Thanks to Joe, Shay, and the Whole Perkins Team!
Every once in a while, you walk into a place that just gets everything right — and for me, that place is Perkins. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with genuine warmth, professionalism, and a sense that I was more than just a customer — I was a guest.
Manager Joe runs this place like a well-oiled machine. He’s not just a manager — he’s a leader. You can tell he deeply cares about the experience of every guest and every staff member. He walks the floor with purpose, checks in with tables, and ensures that everything is running smoothly. It’s rare to see a manager so engaged and hands-on in the best way. Joe brings a level of pride and care that sets the tone for the whole restaurant.
Now let me talk about Shay, our server — absolute rockstar. Shay was attentive without being overbearing, friendly without being fake, and always a step ahead. She anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. Drinks never ran low, food came out hot and fresh, and her timing was perfect. You could tell she loves what she does — her positive energy was contagious.
The food? Incredible. From the fluffy pancakes to the perfectly seasoned country-fried steak, and the always-comforting pot roast dinner, everything was cooked to perfection. You can taste the consistency and care that goes into every dish. Big kudos to the kitchen team — the cooks behind the scenes are clearly professionals who take pride in their work. My whole table was happy, full, and impressed.
And let’s not forget the atmosphere — clean, welcoming, and just the right balance of cozy and professional. The lighting was soft, the booths were spotless, and the background music was subtle and relaxing. You can bring your family, your coworkers, or just stop by for some peaceful solo time — it’s that versatile.

Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a place where the people are great, the food is better than expected, and the vibes are just right, go to Perkins. Manager Joe and server Shay made this experience unforgettable. Can’t wait to come back — and I’ll be asking for Shay by name!

Drove straight in from New Mexico and Perkins was the only place open until 2 am. We pulled up and parked at the same time as another couple. However, we waited ten minutes for our other party of two to arrive.
We walked into the restaurant at 12:23 am and stood at the at the front desk anxious to eat. The waitress comes and quickly tells us they are not seating and only doing takeout orders. Meanwhile, the couple who drove in the same time as we did was already seated with drinks.
We drove 20 hours to arrive at this destination and the only place that is open other than McDonald's is Perkins and that's why we chose Perkins.
I explain to her that it is not fair because their sign posted 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. I also told her it wasn't fair that the couple who literally walked in a few minutes before us was quickly seated. She tried to explain to me that it was because there were four other patrons who were in the restaurant.
I told her we witnessed those patrons leave the establishment and that it shouldn't matter whether they are there or not to decide whether we are seated or not.
I told her I felt we were being discriminated. She said she wasn't having it. She raised her voice and asked me to leave, then tried to tell me she grew up in a town of Mobridge, South Dakota. I told her where she grew up does not matter whether we got seated or not. She raised her voice again and told me to get out.
Her her actions were not right. She said she wasn't going to deal with racism and asked me to get out. I never told her she was racist I told her I was feeling discriminated against.
I didn't even have to use the words racist or racism and I touched a nerve in her racist attitude.
We left and went to Marlin's restaurant. Three people in this restaurant and we're immediately seated and offered drinks.
