We had an awful experience at this place. We got 2 rooms, for 4 people. Both double Queens. (For reference) Starting off from the moment we got there, the young woman behind the counter was in a tank top and jeans...no uniform. Weird for a hotel staff member, but okay. As we continued staying - we saw NO ONE in a uniform. Anyways, she tells us that because we were checking in early we had to pay a fee. Irritating, however understandable- until we talked to guests who had checked in earlier than we had and found out they did not have to pay a fee. This is where things start to go completely off the walls. We ended up with 2 rooms beside each other, on the first floor. Making our way to our rooms, the drop ceiling tiles were riddled with rot, and mold, from leaking pipes lining the sides of the hallways. Including spots in front of both of our rooms Room A (my room) the door would not open. Three or four times slamming my shoulder into the door, it finally opens. The plate is not screwed properly into the door or the frame. Room B is the same. As well as the locks on both doors being cracked. VERY CONCERNING. So, We do our initial dropping off of our things, both of the rooms REEK of urine. Continuing to check out the room, stains on the curtains, peeling paint off multiple walls, broken doors, room B has dirty towels in the bathtub, neither of the mini fridges close, or keep things cold (we ended up keeping everything in our coolers the entire weekend)... again trying to be understanding, they are doing renos... We decided to head out for a bit to explore the area. We come back a few hours later, aren't in the room for more than a few minutes when my daughter (staying in room B) tells me that the ceiling in her bathroom was steady stream leaking a liquid on her cleansing products, and clothing items. The lady at the counter came in and looks at it and says "it must be the toilet from upstairs" - in an unconcerned tone, then said "I will just tell the people above you not to use the toilet" as if that was supposed to fix the problem or somehow undo someones dirty toilet water dripping on her things? The products my daughter was meant to clean herself with? She offers no immediate solutions... and it wasn't until she was asked by one of our group that we were even offered a new room. We then had to go find her to get our new room. We asked for a managers number and she refused to give it to us, and instead offered to reach out to the manager. At this point, we were already frustrated- it was in the evening, so fine....Move out of the first room into the second room, on the third floor. Important note here - my daughter and I both have asthma. She and I walk into the room to inspect it, make sure there was no leaks or anything. Room again stinks of piss. Directly above the bed on the left side - peeling paint and a sizable mass of black mold/mildew. Sent my daughters partner down, to explain that she cannot sleep in that room or she could end up in the hospital. The lady was clearly irritated, as she goes to find a new room to put my daughter and her partner in, back down to the first floor. The room is inspected to make sure its okay. No leaks, no mold, still smells like piss, paint is peeling, stains on the curtains and walls, there's no smoke alarm, instead an open hole with capped wires sticking out, door plate is screwed on with one screw, and the lock is cracked. She then proceeds to inform us that the room is there "overflow" room for when they overbook, and that she will not be moving us again, regardless of the condition of the room. She was incredibly rude when saying so, and had been acting the entire time as if we had come to her hotel and caused all these issues. We tried to remain calm with her as we discussed our issues, but it became increasingly obvious she was not at all trying to remedy the solution or be proactive, but rather she wanted us to deal with the disgusting, unsafe mess we were supposed to sleep in. At the end of it all, we still never got to speak...
Read moreWe had a room with a bed that was sagging so bad it was like a hammock. Changed to different room and that room bed not much better and toilet wouldn't flush. Went to front desk for plunger and had to plunge toilet every time to get water to go down. I advised the front desk agent and they said we can move you to a different room. I said no we will just stick out one more night. Having to be moved twice was enough for all the problems didn't figure another room would be any different. The plug in in the bed headboard for your phone charger didn't work. Bugs on ceiling in room and I went to use restroom downstairs by front desk and it smelled of pee and pee was on the floor and paper towel every where. We were there for an event and it went to almost midnight each night when we got back to the hotel and every night we came back to the hotel to parking lot full. No where to park. Front desk agent said he was new and helped the first night and let us park in handicap spot. The next night I said we need parking he said good luck! He said don't get mad at me I'm new and I can't do anything we are all full tonight no handicap spots. I said I want to speak to your boss and he called the boss and said you have to talk to him I'll just dial the number. Turns out I couldn't understand him and made front desk agent speak to him. He advised we could park next door at the other hotel. I said why didn't you tell us that the other night he said I just found out like you. This isn't something you want to deal with after a long day at midnight trying to talk to front desk agent to get a parking spot for a room you paid for. The hotel is very run down and outdated. Ceiling had been wet by our 2nd room and they put a hole in it I guess to drain water and never fixed it. Shutters on outside of hotel falling off and so on. Weeds everywhere outside and dirty carpet on stairs. This hotel needs a major upgrade immediately. I would never recommend Country Inn and Suites to anyone and I am a travel agent so I won't be booking my clients at these hotels. I feel I should be offered a refund for all the hassles. I even got a text about how is your stay so far and put in details there and was told they would follow-up shortly and have not heard anything from the feedback I left there. If your going to ask for feedback and how your stay is going and someone replies and says not good wouldn't you check in...
Read moreBeginning with our arrival around 11:30 pm. Us: Hi, we're here to check in. Reception: We're full. Us: We have a reservation. We also called to let the hotel know we would be checking in late. Reception: We don't have any rooms available. Us: So is the hotel finding us a room somewhere else? Reception: Rolls eyes and picks up phone. Makes two quick calls Hey, you got any rooms available? Alright. Then calls who I assume is the manager Hey, these people have a reservation and the computer says we don't have any rooms. Yep. Yep. OK. OK. Finally addresses us We have a room but the lock doesn't work. I'll let you in. If you both leave at the same time, you won't be able to get back in.
So 30 minutes later we get to the room. It smells like mold/mildew. The carpet is ripped and aged and smells. The walls are smattered with unknown fluids and stains (Nail polish? Ketchup? Blood? Who knows). The mattress seemed old and worn down in the places to the point you could tell where people normally lay. The shower level is stuck at a spot where 75% of water flows out the top and 25% flows out the bottom. And there were obvious signs of water damage and aging everywhere. I had to clean an insect out of the shower before use. Also several hairs were on the walls in the shower.
The man working the front desk when we checked out on June 19th was exceptional. He was checking people in, managing the coffee and breakfast items, and brought us additional towels. He seemed very overworked, but he had a great attitude and was definitely going above and beyond to do his best.
We would never stay at any Country Inn and Suites or any hotel chain that we are not familiar with after this experience. I read mixed reviews before booking, and I wish I would have taken the worst reviews...
