I arrived around 9pm on a Sunday, and the front desk person handled business without any pleasantries, but not rude. When I walked into the room, I was initially impressed. There was a kitchenette, desk, couch, coffee table, TV, dresser, bed, dressing area, and bathroom, and the room was sizable. Unfortunately, the room was also poorly remodeled. At least one light switch didn't do anything, one of the lights wasn't working correctly (bad ballast?), caulking was insufficient and poorly done, wall texture where repairs had been made were obvious, and corner protectors didn't reach the baseboards. The room was also not clean. I walked around barefoot for a while, and my feet had so much debris stuck to them I had to wash them and wear shoes. The microwave had crumbs in it, someone's drink was in the fridge, and there was a dirty line in the tub. The towels appeared clean and without stains, but the pillowcases were suspicious, with hairs stuck to them. The room had 4 full size bottles for lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and soap attached to the wall, and one small individually wrapped bar of soap. The lotion bottle was falling off the wall. There was a sign on the hall to be quiet, but the door closer on the door didn't work, so the door slammed. The breakfast selection was better than I've seen elsewhere; biscuits, gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, 4 kinds of cereal, 3 kinds of juice, coffee, yogurt, English muffins, bread, bagels, sour cream, milk (a gallon, not individual containers), and waffles (but the machine was out of order). I didn't go to the pool area.
I could have overlooked the bad remodel, but the poor cleaning will keep me from staying here again. I shouldn't have to ask for a new room... The room I'm assigned...
Read moreWe’re not sure if this hotel is in the middle of a renovation or not, but I truly hope so. And if so, they really should post signs so guests know and might be more forgiving on the oddities around this place.
Regardless, here are my problems with this hotel. Some of them are personal taste, I get it may not bother everyone. But when you spend the night away from home, I like it to feel “homey”. So for those who have similar tastes, this review is for you.
We were on the first floor. There is NO carpet in the guest rooms. I understand this from a maintenance and cleanliness standpoint but it makes the room feel so cold (literally and figuratively, it’s winter!) and creates problems with noise as we could hear every footstep and pin drop on the floor above us. I also didn’t have socks with me.
Door to the room did not close unless we pulled/pushed it closed. And it was hard to close. My husband didn’t appreciate this feature.
Paint all over the cabinets in the bathroom, just looked sloppy.
Overall decor felt unfinished. Not much artwork or furniture in the room. Layout of the bed, TV and couch was weird.
Water leaks in the hallway. A literal tub was collecting water outside our room and it didn’t look like anyone ever emptied it so the carpet in the hallway was soaked as well.
The TV had commercials on it.
In all seriousness, the lack of carpet in the room and other maintenance issues are the real reason we give this...

Sure, the hallway carpets are new, and the rooms have freshly laid plank flooring. But if you look a little bit closer you'll see the smoke detector hanging from the ceiling, notice the inconsistent water temperature, and realize that whomever hung the brick paneling couldn't be bothered to take the time to align it properly.
The "fitness center" is closet sized with more broken machines than working ones, and I don't know when the last time it was cleaned. I wish I had taken pictures in there, because I wouldn't believe a review that suggested there was an old orange from who knows when and enough loose hair on the floor to think someone used the room exclusively to brush their tabby cat.
As far as the staff goes, flip a coin. One person at the counter was quite bothered that our group of parents were hanging out in the bar area (that's closed, seemingly permanently), where tables and chairs are, rather than in the hallways disrupting other guests, while another was kind enough to turn on the lights and make us feel at least not unwelcome. And this person is also apparently the elevator mechanic (the saftey certificate is expired back in Dec 24 afterall).
If you picked this place because the gameroom was a tiebreaker, too bad! It's closed but they can't update the...
