The Helm House — Hotel in Boothbay Harbor

Stayed at The Helm House with a friend this fall, and I can honestly say it was one of the nicest places I have had the pleasure to stay. The house itself is simply beautiful, inside and out. A huge wrap-around porch, as well as a large, brand new widow's walk atop the roof provide both privacy and gorgeous views of Boothbay Harbor. Inside, the decor is the perfect blend of elegant and welcoming, with several different areas to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, conversation, or a good book. Incredibly, the owners have thought of everything to make our stay perfect: from a supply of device chargers, to everything you'd need to make yourself a nice drink when you arrive (you only need to bring the alcohol)! The living area is large with ample seating for larger groups. The kitchen is a great space with everything you will need for your upscale experience, whether you are making coffee or dinner. Upstairs, the bedrooms are beautiful, classy, and very comfortable with stunning views, plenty of closet space, and wonderful natural lighting. Both bathrooms are super clean and feature charming little accents that just put this place over the top in quality. On top of all of that, the location can't be beat. Located just a few steps away from the highest point in Boothbay Harbor, you will feel like you are on top of the world. The surrounding town is filled with everything anyone could wish for, from top grade sushi, gorgeous walks, and a working New England harbor, to quaint shops, fresh seafood (including the largest oysters on the half shell I have ever seen), ice cream, and a rich local history, all waiting for you to enjoy. Our entire stay was amazing and we would highly recommend! Looking forward to another stay! Every single room was meticulously decorated and had everything you could ever need & more! Every room had AC/heat, tv. The shower was amazingly designed! Walking distance to shops, restaurants, boat tours, historic sites/buildings! We visited the Central Maine Botanical Gardens which is a must see! Our family also went on a whale watch trip where we all had a blast! On our first night, we visited Fishermen’s Wharf which had a great variety of food including seafood and a full bar. A fabulous Italian restaurant named Ports of Italy was the perfect place to have dinner for my son’s 11th Birthday. We also visited the Ice Cream Parlor, historic candy store and a great pizza restaurant! Best of all was the lobster from Boothbay Lobster Wharf! Communication with the Helm House team, Matt and Sarah was flawless. Sarah provided a wealth of knowledge prior to our stay including recommendations for activity’s tailored to my family!
