Vacationing in Boothbay, and at the top of our favorite restaurants is Ports of Italy, this place is not to be missed if you love Italian cuisine. Very popular with the locals and the tourists, be smart and make a reservation, especially over the weekend so you will not be disappointed. They are open 7 days a week 4:30-8:00. We had an early reservation and was taken to our table and immediately approached by our waiter, given water, he told us the specials and gave us time to look over the menu. We received a paper bag of warm, delicious rustic bread and olive oil dipping sauce, so good. After ordering, our food arrived in a timely fashion right from the kitchen. I ordered the veal ravioli in a mushroom cream sauce, let me tell you my choice was just delicious and very rich and filling. Husband ordered Osso Buco sitting on top of a rich broth and risotto, what a great presentation and my husband enjoyed it tremendously! Our waiter was very attentive to us and good at his job. The busboys were so nice and took good care of our needs. This place is a cut above the rest and they are popular and have a cult following!! Highly recommend coming here, a little pricey but so worth the experience. Bob and...

Dear Lord if you have a family DO NOT GO HERE! When trying to make reservations we were told NO to any time we had tried and he told us we could come at a certain time. Even with COVID currently we showed up at the said time and were told to sit in the back and that we are not ready for you by a very impolite manager/host. After 20 minutes they finally sit us with terrible service through out our entire time at this restaurant, the waiter was impolite and hit my foot 4 times and did not apologize. Took the wine glasses and placed them on another table after being touched. The food was overcooked and the sauce is unseasoned. Any pizza place down town here could do better in both service and food. If there is a possibility to give this restaurant a zero I wish I could. Later on through my stay here I overheard that the service was horrible to other people who had visited. Save yourself the time, the money, and the frustration and do not go here. It’s great that the crew is payed enough to defend their manager with more great quality comments. Way to...

1st, the food: This was hands down the best meal my wife and I had in Boothbay during our 4 days there and multiple restaurants we ate at. I had the gnocchi and she the fettuccine verdi alla carolina and for dessert we had the tiramisu and panna cotta. Everything was incredible, delicately flavored and spot-on. The portion sizes were what you'd expect at this price point, except the tiramisu which I'm happy to say was WAY bigger than I expected! The place was very busy, which is a good sign generally. A little iffy in covid time if you're worried about that, just know what you're getting into if you eat inside. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could because honestly nothing aside from the food/drink itself wowed us. It was very cozy (re: borderline cramped), very loud, service was so-so (hate to penalize any restaurant for this right now so I won't in my rating, but I need to point it out), but if you're looking for amazing Italian food I think you'd be hard pressed to find any better in Maine. There's a reason this is the #1 restaurant in...

My family brought me here tonight for an early Mothers Day. My 1st time. My daughter had been here previously and was excited to see you offered Gluten Free options - I require them. We arrived at oir reservation time and were sat promptly. We had a wonderful gentleman for our server, very attentive and knowlegeable. We started with the mixed meats and cheese board and the ricotta stuffed eggplant for our table of five. I have to say, best eggplant dish I've ever had! For my entree I had the mixed seafood with red sauce over GF pasta (actually tasted like a wonderful fra diavolo sauce. ) was delicious. My daughter had the Lobster ravioli. Smelled ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - obviously that was a gluten containing dish but I couldn't help but wish they'd offered a deconstructed version over GF pasta. The gluten free chocolate torte was thankfully sweetened a bit, so much better than other, basically unsweetened GF tortes. Wonderful dinner. Wonderful service. Will return.

My young daughter and I had dinner here tonight spontaneously. Since we didn’t have reservations we were sat at the bar which was fine. We both noticed stares from the manager and waitstaff…not sure why but pretty sure they were talking about us….maybe we weren’t dressed as nice as everyone else? I certainly can afford to eat there…The Bartender was wonderful, she served us a delicious margarita and Shirley Temple. We ordered the Caprese salad for an appetizer and it was so delicious! It was served in a shell made out of Parmesan cheese so you could eat the whole thing! My daughter ordered homemade wide pasta noodles with a bolognese meat sauce and I had to squid ink pasta with clams, muscles, shrimp and calamari. Both meals were delicious. Fast and friendly service. Great atmosphere (except for the earlier stares) with the windows open and fresh air flowing through. Perfect June evening!
