We visited Boyne for the first time in February 2019. We have been going to Crystal Mountain in Michigan for years, but wanted to try something new. While the skiing at Boyne was great- the resort itself was a huge disappointment from the moment we arrived.||At check-in, the front desk staff, while not rude, was completely unwelcoming. In fact, I had to ask if she was done because she simply handed me papers and stared at me. (She said yes)||After check-in, we arrive at the parking spot for our lodge. Parking lot was chaos and completely covered in ice- as in, there is no way any winter maintenance had been done at all. People were parked everywhere, it was hard to get to the parking spot, hard to find one, and hard to walk on it when we did find one. ||The room- we paid a hefty price for a terrible room. It was cramped and damp, although clean. There is no where to store skis outside, so there have been years of drippy boots and skis in that room- on that rug. It felt and smelled damp. There was a mini-fridge in the room, every time we opened the door, we were worried it would fall out of the cabinet. The bathroom was clean, but had years of build up around the shower door. Not pleasant. The "heat" was a unit above a bed. It was set to 64 when we got in there- when we turned it up to 70 degrees, it dripped water on the bed.||Most employees seemed disinterested in being there at the hotel- I wondered at one point if some terrible news had been told to them just prior to our arrival. ||Skiing was great. We rented skis for our son- everyone there was helpful. The lift operators were kind. The waitstaff at Kilwin's was also very pleasant. ||However, the room was so bad (and so over priced) that I cannot recommend that anyone stay on property. When I checked out I was NOT asked how my stay was- but I did share some of my concerns. She simply told me "to fill out the survey, they rely heavily on those!" I did fill out a survey. It has been over a week since I filled it out and I have not been contacted, so I'm not sure how seriously they take them.||||We've stayed at many ski areas throughout the midwest and along the east coast. I have no idea why people ever come back to stay at Boyne. If you are looking to ski in Michigan- go to Crystal! For the same price I paid for a terrible room, I booked a ski in/ski out condo with full kitchen. It isn't far from Boyne and skiing...
Read moreBoyne Mountain Resort itself is absolutely amazing and has much to offer during any season BUT I would avoid staying in Clock Tower Lodge if you plan a visit. Our room (125) was very tiny, the bathroom almost nonexistent, the room and hallway had a musty smell and our room had an ant problem. The front desk was quick to address the ant problem and reassigned us to the Grand Lodge for our last evening.||||I completely understand that some people are willing to pay less for accommodations but we will not make the same choice again and I suggest everyone else to think twice before booking a room at Clock...
Read moreWe had fun, but there is NO handicap accessibility which made it so the entire family had to help my sister up the stairs, as we carried the wheelchair. Then, she couldn't enjoy the resort very well because of limited space for the wheelchair. She has 5 kids, fortunately, we were there and could help a bit..but she still missed out on time with the kids. The bathroom/changing room area was tiny at the poolI...but the pool was super warm (even I the winter) so the kids had fun. If it weren't for the handicap issues, I would have...
