I am local, about a 25 minute drive away. We were there from 4 pm Tuesday to 10:30 am Thursday, in 106, the Sand Dollar. It was homey, super clean, check in and out was easy, customer service was excellent. We slept past time to have our towels changed out Wednesday so we took the wicker basket they provide up to the office and got fresh towels.
I don't think I wore shoes at all while there, I was either in the room or walking out the door and onto the beach. Beautiful beach, quiet and cute. We were a 30 second trot to the water and thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility of the kitchen so we could spend most of the daylight on the beach/in the water and pop back to the room to eat. We had cereal at breakfast, fresh deli sliced meat/cheese sandwiches on artisan sliced bread from Publix deli and bakery, I made dinner in the room, it was great. The shower is very small, not built for big people and the kitchen is basic with basic and, plates, utensils, etc. There's complimentary coffee and a coffee maker, toaster in the cabinet... But we were there for a comfy room and beach side access and that's what we got. My daughter and I shared the king bed and it was super comfy, nice pillows too. Everything was super clean, smelled fresh, bathroom had plenty of soap and shampoo and when we needed more, it was graciously provided.
We thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm definitely going back to stay again before the summer is over.
Oh, and parking is on site and free, pretty close...
Read moreStayed at the Sand Dune for a one night girls get away. I wish we had more than one day as it was amazing. We were able to get into the bungalow around 1:00 when it was cleaned, which we were very excited about as it was supposed to rain that day (it didn’t 😊). We were blown away by the cute vintage coastal decor, size of the rooms, and oh my the view!!! Right on the beach with your own chairs and umbrella set up! That alone was worth it. The price of the bungalow compared to other places not on the beach couldn’t be beat. The screened porch/Florida room was wonderful to relax out of the sun but still take in the view. The kitchen and living room were spacious, although we didn’t use them. The rooms were clean and we greatly appreciated the individual ac units in each bedroom. The front desk was easily reached through text messaging and kept in contact with me before, during, and after the stay. The only negative might be parking as it is on a curve and not easy to get in with two vehicles but it’s not difficult if you already know what to expect. The sunset that night was amazing, followed by star gazing and listening to sounds of the ocean. The next morning we were greeted with a rainbow and I found a sharks tooth. Heaven! I look forward to the...
Read moreQuick 5-day trip we spent 4 nights at this awesome hide-away. Two nights each in two different rooms, The Dolphin and the Seagull. Both were old school charming very clean and quaint, also very reasonably priced.
The Seagull room was directly on the Gulf giving us the perfect beautiful view of the water and beach. the management is very helpful, hospitable, and happy to fill you in on the history of the island and places to go, dining etc. We enjoyed all the area has to offer and also sitting on our private porch directly on the sand on the Gulf watching the most perfect sunsets. There are many great restaurants both on the island and close by in Saratoga and Bradenton. No lack of great things to do. You can walk down the beach about half a mile to a few great, right on the beach breakfast and lunch places.
To be clear if YOU are looking for corporate 5-star hotel, marble floors, manicured landscaping, stuffy attitude, central air blasting and uniformed bell hops and concierge to cater to your every whim, you wouldn’t like it here. BUT… if you are looking for charm, relaxed vibe, friendly people, caring management team, loving life and living on island time, on the gulf coast this place is...
