On Monday September 9, 2024 I and my Wife were looking for a reasonably priced hotel room in the Brandon Florida area for one night. This wasn't an exotic vacation so we didn't need all the bells and whistles just something clean and quiet where we wouldn't have to worry about any crime issues. Upon searching on google I did see the Extended Stay America Hotel located off of S. Falkenberg and Causeway Blvd. for $94 a night. Now we used to live in the Brandon area not too long ago and we recalled when they built this area up with new Apartment homes, restaurants, car wash, gas stations, etc. It still looks fairly new and inviting all around this area. So we booked the room with confidence.
Upon arriving to the hotel the wood and carpet flooring in the hallway looked dirty and the hallway smelled like marijuana. Upon checking in and gathering our luggage we moved to the elevator go to the 4th floor to our room. The elevator smelled like an old dusty bar where they never change the carpet! It also smelled like marijuana! When we get to our room the wood floor looked dirty! The room looked nothing like the beautiful bright polished photo on the website. I'm assuming that was the photo they took when the place was first built. It was raining heavy when we checked in and the clerk gave us bath towels to cover ourselves while we went back and forth to the car (to which I appreciated). I took those wet towels and cleaned the floor. You wouldn't believe how dirty those towels were after I wiped the whole floor! I have attached various photos as proof of this and other issues.
Further issues were the wall socket looking like it was covered in grease splatter. Roaches in the bathroom, kitchen and on the wall. The website still shows the hotel having a fitness center. So I walked each floor looking for this. Each hallway wreaked of marijuana scent! I came across a staff to which I was then informed that there was no fitness center. Later that night I took our dogs for a walk and observed a couple of people sitting in their vehicles with the doors open smoking marijuana. I observed another group of males with alcohol bottles on the top of their car just hanging out. While walking around the building every time I passed an A/C exhaust blower it smelled like strong marijuana!
After all of my observations it was clear to me that these activities and the way this hotel was ran is the norm. I just wish this was advertised. What is advertised is a beautiful, clean and quality room and environment. As a final insult upon arriving home and unpacking my luggage a roach fell out!
I would advise the owner and managers to view the attached photos and understand that this is most likely what most rooms look like. Either you walk or have someone you trust walk the hallways, stairwells and elevators and Imagine being a customer who is looking for the clean polished hotel they saw on the website. I would suggest you make some drastic changes or update the website photos to reflect how the place...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel recently and it was honestly the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in and I travel a lot especially for work.
This hotel was my first encounter in Tampa. I have never been to Tampa before and this hotel really left a sour taste.
I called initially because I was going to arrive later than I expected and wanted to make sure the reservation wasn't going to get canceled. Whoever answered the phone I presume from a call center, was rude and abrupt. He didn't ask for any information before hanging up. Whenever I got to the hotel, no one was at the front desk. I waited about 40 minutes before I finally got someone. There were 2 other parties waiting. The person who was tending to the front desk was in the parking lot smoking weed đ that's why it took a while to find anyone. I used the phone at the front to contact someone, the gentleman called the front desk, to which I had to explain that we could hear the phone ringing because he called 3 different times. I thought he was maybe going to reach out to someone personally with a different contact number. When we finally got checked in, the elevator and hallway smelled absolutely horrible. I wish I could put it to words but one description was fish đ It was just one of the many smells.
When I got to my room it was nothing like the pictures online. I've stayed at the establishment before so it was nothing like what I expected. The beds, cabinets, everything! There were also roaches đȘłđȘł and blood on the walls and floor. Whoever is mopping the floors is using dirty mop water because the floors were also sticky. It looks like no one had actually cleaned the rooms. The 10 point inspection was a joke! When I pulled back the beds to check, there was hair and yellow stains on the sheets. I immediately walked back down stairs and requested a new room. The guy who checked us in kind of made a comment similar to â "well, what did you expect" when I told him that the rooms looked nothing like the pictures.
The next room was pretty much more of the same. There were broken furniture. If I had read the reviews from Google, I would not have chosen this hotel. It was too late to try to look for another hotel.
The only positive thing I can say is that the shower water was hot, the location is close by shops, and the manager (I presume) was...
Read moreThis was one of THE WORST experiences I've had at a hotel and I've stayed at plenty over the US.
We were only in town for the evening and we traveled about 3.5 hours. Once we arrived around 10pm, the front desk was enclosed and locked up. There was a sign stating to call a number to request assistance if it was past 10pm. My husband called the number, we waited about 10min for someone to come to the front desk. It seemed as if this person was woken up to come and assist those of us checking in. While we waited, the lobby area filled up with others who were also checking in. We were glad to be first up to check in and get our room key. We could not wait to get to our room and have a good night's rest - or so we thought!!
Apparently, the hotel's computer system was not working or allowing the front desk attendant to check anyone in. She called her manager, who then instructed her to call the system support for assistance. This process consumed an hour or so of our time. By the time we made it to our room, it was almost midnight. The room itself seemed "nice", more so because of the full kitchenette and full sized fridge. The beds were very cheap and moved simply from sitting on or leaning up against them. Throughout the course of the night, I saw 3 ROACHES in the bathroom at different times. One of those was in the bathtub. We were so disgusted. But if all this wasn't bad enough, after finally falling asleep we are awoken by the fire alarms at 4:30am! This fiasco lasted for about an hour. The alarms were ringing and flashing in our room and throughout the whole hotel on and off from 4:30-5:30am. The fire trucks were outside the hotel but we received no instruction or even a call letting us know it was a false alarm or even if we were safe - NO COMMUNICATION!
We had to be up early and out of that terrible place by 9am. When we left at 9am, once again the front desk was enclosed and not one employee was anywhere to be seen. We left and did not look back. I would NEVER stay at this site again and I strongly recommend against anyone wasting their money here. I'll be contacting the corporate office for a refund for...
