Price is low, about average for the West Pensacola area. I only give three stars because the employees in the office and housekeeping were friendly enough and at the price I paid I expected some setbacks, otherwise it would get two stars. I am not sure I can hold this hotel at fault for its location.
The room is clean enough. It appears that they have taken what they have to work with and done the best they can. My room had wood laminate flooring and a retro style decor. The room was OK, and clean. The shower was difficult to turn on. I did miss having an iron. The other drawback was that the building was designed so that all but about 10 rooms are set so far back from the ice machine and drinks that it is not even worth it to leave your room. Especially with everyone hanging about smoking and drinking like they didn't have a room to do it in. Seemed like locals. There was a level of comfort to the lackadaisical drawing of breath from their cigarettes and slow swish and gulp of beers that sort of defied the idea of a true visitor's somewhat more guarded relaxation.
Turns out the worst part of this stay is that it appeared to be populated almost entirely by the locals for the weekend... I feel like this is probably the norm here. When they say "Hi, how are you" as they block the walkway in groups while drinking and smoking it would be nice if you thought they were being completely sincere, but the way it comes across feels like they are casing your stuff and judging how far you sleep from your car. I felt much more at ease when the crowd left for the weekend.
I actually stayed at a hotel up the road a month prior to this that had the worst reviews I've ever read. But I'm on a super tight budget and although the reviews were right about the terrible condition of that hotel, I paid half the price and I actually felt more comfortable there than I did at this Motel 6.
So pros are: Cheaper price, Clean room, WiFi Cons are: Way too sketchy, no convenient ice or vending
We ended up having no incidents but I literally wanted to set alarms to check on my car all night and every morning when I saw it was still there I was a little surprised, sincerely. The best thing about pricier hotels is probably that most guests disappear to their rooms and don't congregate in groups of drinkers huddled in clouds of smoke while sitting in chairs on...
Read moreVery basic accomodations. NO fridge . NO microwave. Ice only in front desk closet area. Yeah, it is that small. Ice machine barely works, there's only ONE for the whole complex and it was at the absolute opposite end of the motel complex of 3 buildings. Same for the only drink machine. You would be better off camping. The stair rails outside lean like they've been in a hurricane. The rooms look like your Uncle Bobby and his 2 friends built the bathroom vanity, headboard, and TV mount. Cheaply done as could be. Air conditioner barely cools the miniscule room. In FL, this is not good! After the first night, I had to hike to the office and let them "re-key" my door card so I could get into my pidgeon-hole room for my second night stay of my reservation. NO reason for it, just told "it happens" by some older guy sleazing behind the front desk with the desk clerk. Towels you could sand wood with, no little complimentary shampoos, lotions, or conditioners here, brother! Only ONE electrical plug in this Pop-Tart box sized room...and it was behind the TV that was mounted in what looked to be a former cheap Wal-Mart tabletop. No, there was one other in the bathroom, I think. The bathroom. Shower door did not fit or close well at all. Creaked like a wooden castle door. The water pressure is better when I sweat than the shower puts out in this place. Is that a huge dead roach (Palmetto bug) in the corner beside the toilet?! Yep! The bathroom door would not close completely. It would shut, but not fasten. You could not lock it or even get it to block out any sounds we rude humans can produce. I'm to blame. I looked for inexpensive lodging for a Friday & Saturday night visit in Pensacola, in the summer, knowing I would only sleep & shower in the room, but come on! I was here for the beach. A great expanse of beauty, only to come back each evening to a capsule of a room. Well , the pool looked clean, if not small. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Let it turn into extremely low-rent housing very soon. OK, at least the place did not stink, nor did it look dirty. Just that roach that had given up on life. Sorry, no pictures. I had to leave my telephoto lens in the car. NO room for it in the motel room. NO amenities. Super small. I think prisoners...
Read moreBooked this room for a last minute trip to the beach. Upon arrival the front desk (Patrick) was extremely friendly and welcoming, he changed our room and gave us the requested lower level room. The room itself is very very basic, bed (which was very comfortable) a TV, and a bathroom with a standup shower. The room was clean and much to my surprise the sheets appeared new (??) There was only 1 light for entire room and a night light over the head of the bed. For the price it would have been nice to have a microwave and fridge. The room was advertised as no frills and that's exactly what you get. I have no complaints about the room ... however after spending the day at the beach and arriving back at the room we encounter a large group (at least 45 ppl) in the parking lot with a deep fryer, grills, loud music, drinking and smoking pot ... a little disturbing due to the fact it was close to 11:30 pm. After more than an hour later they were still out there and extremely loud ... the people in the room next to my friends room violently fought off and on until after 2am ... I went to the front office to complain and the guy there (Denis) responded that the ppl in the parking lot "were on vacation" and the couple fighting had been addressed ... excuse me?? We're on vacation as well and clearly the fighting couple had not been addressed ... he appeared afraid to address either issue... close to 3:30am things FINALLY quieten down enough to sleep. We stayed 3 nights and it was very loud outside all three nights ... If you're looking for a very basic room and you can sleep through extremely loud surroundings all hours of the night ... then this may work for you. Patrick, you are very friendly and personable... you would be very good managing a different property ... the other staff attention to guest (or lack thereof) make...
