Treated very poorly here 3 problems occurred!!!! 1ST ISSUE the day we arrive, they stuck us in the wrong building. The heat was set to around 75 degrees. It was very, very hot in that room for march! It made me very sick. AC was turned off, where I could not use it. They did offer to bring a fan, that never happened... 2ND ISSUE, when we changed rooms to go into the right building, from the first screw up. They told us a room was available. My husband goes to unlock the door and walks in on a lady packing -__- . How awkward and weird that was!? They said that on their computer, the room was empty! We even had to make sure they properly cleaned the room, and didnt mistakenly leave it dirty... 3RD ISSUE!!! As we go to checkout, they tried to charge us an additional $600. When we had previously paid in cash for 2 weeks... After arguing and bickering back and fourth accusing me of lying (I had 1 receipt I found for proof) and staying for Free, they finally admitted we did paid the $600 (2 transactions a day apart $300 both times). I had made 2 transactions that showed on their computer (after they said at first I only made 1). They still didnt give me an answer on why they had to charge $600 if I was leaving, If I already paid for the 2 weeks in advance 2 weeks ago. I had paid my stay in advance. They did not make sense or even try to explain to me what was going on. I had to deal with 2 rude females, that seemed to want to argue back and fourth when I was trying to figure all this out and ask them questions. After they gave us a refund of only half the $600 they took. We were still upset they were trying to keep $300 still. The "Boss Lady" who came out of her office after hearing that I was not leaving, because this was not right and she said very rudely, "Who cares about $300!? Give them their money back and get them out of my lobby." In a very rude and nasty way... VERY UNPROFESSIONAL to treat customers that way. I have a family I provide for and $300 goes a long way. Customers are the ones who give you the business to begin with, you should not be rude or disrespectful in anyway towards them, rather then figure out the problem instead of calling people theifs... Also if you plan to stay for a week or longer, be careful! If you leave early in the week and dont stay the entire week, they STILL CHARGE YOU for that week! That is also what they kept trying to tell me, even though I already stayed for a full 2 weeks (I didnt leave in the middle of the week). ... It seemed it was one excuse after the other, on why they needed to charge my card. Their stories kept switching up and made no sense, even when I was trying to ask certain questions... Luckily I got the full refund that they tried to scam me for. Some people are not so lucky! Be careful! Keep your receipts!...
Read moreDefinitely you get what you pay for. We decided to rough it a bit and stay here, the majority of the reviews were good. This motel is older and you can tell that it is a local hangout for those less fortunate. Room was ok, beds were nothing spectacular but was definitely not like the pictures online. Woke up and tried to shower and we had no hot water - none - freezing cold. Went to the front desk and they quickly found out the water heater got turned off and to wait a few hours for it to heat up. She said she would have the maintenance man swing by to make sure it was heating up. After we ate breakfast we went back to the room to see if it was heating up, nope. Maintenance man and some woman came in ran the water( was told we had to run the sink too) for a few minutes, declared the water hot, turned them off and left. I quickly asked which way to turn the knob since it just turned in 360 not stopping and he said to the left. After they left I ran the water (sink too) and the water did not get hot. We figured the tank needed to completely heat up so we left for the day. |After returning from Acadia all day we returned I immediately turned on the shower and sink to see if the water was hot, ran it for about 5 minutes, didn’t get above lukewarm. Ugh! Went to the front desk and a super friendly lady helped, she noted on the computer we had problems that morning, called maintenance and they said to run the water for 5-10 minutes to get hot water! Um….. no thank you. I told her that was ridiculous and she called someone and I could hear them being nasty about my complaint that morning and it had been resolved, I told her no it hadn’t. After I could hear the nasty exchange over the phone I asked for a refund for that night and we would go to another motel. She said there had to be a manager approved request she called and we were immediately told yes we could get a refund for that night. Yea! Upon arriving at my room the woman from the morning was in the room speaking to my elderly mother in a nasty tone that we hadn’t run the water long enough for it to heat up, i asked if there was a problem and she turned around and said to me”I’m in the next room and have hot water so you do too.” I said that we had lukewarm water, she ran the shower and sink and it eventually got warmer. She stepped out of the room on her phone and who ever she was talking to she was clearly pissed that we were being so difficult. She knocks and says, “ I hear you are getting a refund, but you do have hot water.” I told her yes and thanked her for her help. We threw all our stuff in the car and got out of there. Later I read other reviews of water not being hot, so them gaslighting me into thinking it was an isolated, us problem was not cool. Thankful my refund came through and they did honor...
Read moreI want to say first that the staff was VERY nice and helpful, and that the room was reasonably clean and the bed was comfortable. But the building is VERY shabby, the key to the first room I got didn't work at all, and after I got a new one that worked (hard), then I couldn't CLOSE the door! Would not latch. So I went back to get another room. The rooms were a straight line out the back and it was DARK back there, around the corner from the office! I was a woman alone and I was afraid. Very few of the lights outside the rooms were working, and there was no parking lot light out there. When I went to dinner, I actually bought a light bulb to replace the one outside my door, but then found that it was just unscrewed, and that I did have my own switch to it. So maybe the other rooms just weren't rented, or the people had not turned them on. But the overall effect was that it was dark and scary. The motel should automatically turn them all on at night. As for my room, it was BASIC chic, (sarcastic), I've never seen such a cheap motel for my money ($85, admittedly) in a long long time. The walls looked like unpainted sheetrock (it was dim, I think they were actually painted gray) and unpainted wood siding, the tiny bathroom was from 1957 and never updated, there was NO closet whatsoever and not even a hook! No extra blankets. No blow dryer in the bathroom, or a trashcan. Doors leading to the outside AND the inside corridor. Considering that the inner door to the hall was inches from my sleeping head, and had a big crack in it (but this room did have a dead bolt), it was fairly quiet. I did hear people talking loudly at 5 am. Breakfast was good, with a nice waffle machine and yogurt, cereal, juice, bagels, etc. All in all, it was an adventure and I survived it! The next night I transferred to the Hotel Ursa on the UMaine campus, for virtually the same price and oh wow, what a difference! Brand new, all the amenities and so nice. Discount for Maine residents. Do not recommend the Vacationland Inn, but do highly...
