Rainbow — Restaurant in Brewer

Saturday lunch adventures brings my son and I to the Rainbow Chinese Restaurant in Brewer, Maine. Located at the shopping center, 415 Wilson Street. Definitely at a prime location. The dining room is located directly as you walk in. So if it is hot, cold, windy, raining or snowing that may effect your dining experience. The room decor was very nice and good seating. Bathroom had a closed sign on the door. There was plenty to choose from on the menu. Had the sweet & sour chicken with egg roll & pork fried rice. No silverware or real plates. Plastic utensils and paper plates. No napkins but comes with the meal. The chicken finger meat texture felt processed and the rice, blah. Sweet and sour sauce fair and duck sauce totally awful. I should have left when they said they don’t serve hot tea. I ordered hot and sour soup and sweet and sour Sam Bo (shrimp, pork and chicken). They brought me a plate of rice, separately a bowl of tasteless sweet sauce and separately a plate of heavily battered and deep fried chicken, shrimp (2) and pork. The batter was cooked hard and impermeable with the cheap plastic fork and spoon I was given. When I was able to crack open the shrimp it smelled fishy and was rubbery. The pork and chicken was tasteless. After a couple of bites I gave up and left. Overall I would rate the meal as disgusting...

Amazing! Staff was very friendly. Large menu, great price, and generous with portion size. The place was super clean and you could see your food being made. I ordered a combination platter with two sides, crab rangoon and teriyaki beef. I got 6 beef sticks and 10 crab rangoon. I was able to get three meals out of my order! Perhaps the staff knew I would get 3 meals out of it...they did give me three fortune cookies. Best part is, it only rang me only $18.
