I am going thru cancer treatment & due to it, am too tired to drive home from work every night. So, I stay at the Wingate in Bridgeport, WV 1 or 2 nights a week. I get up at 4am to work a 10 hour day. This night I was feeling particularly ill so my husband came to stay with me. At 10:30pm, we discovered the remote missing. The room was also missing a fridge, microwave, alarm clock & coffee pot. I tried calling the front desk & no one answered. So I had to get dressed & go to the front desk. There I found Bob & another female employee training. I wondered why no one answered my call, but just asked for a remote. Bob grabbed one from a drawer. I thought he would hand it to me but instead came out to follow me to the room to program the remote. I told him I didn't want him coming to my room because my husband was indisposed & preparing for bed. He said that he had to with the remote. I told Bob, Never mind. It's late & this is ridiculous. Then he offers to put us in another room. I said yes. While he was making the changes, he makes the snide comment that he "could have programmed the remote faster than moving your room". I really didn't appreciate his snide comment. Then he hands me the key & said to just leave the keys in the old room. 5 minutes later, Bob is knocking on the door to inspect the room. Again, interrupted & inconvenienced, I couldn't get moved out of the room quickly enough for Bob. I apologize, I know I'm young but battling cancer, I have slowed down a lot. I then followed Bob back to the front to find out how many minutes I had to move rooms. He then told me "as long as you need" & that he had cameras he would watch to know when we were out. I moved as quickly as possible, then took the keys to the front, asking Bob to inspect the room so I could confirm there were no issues & my credit card would not be charged. Bob refused & said he would have his boss check it in the morning. I asked Bob repeatedly to contact the supervisor or corporate supervisor to handle the issue immediately. Bob refused. I asked Bob when the supervisor would be in, he stated "not until next Monday". The trainee corrected Bob telling him "it is Monday, he will be here tomorrow." I asked Bob what time the supervisor would be in, he responded "I don't know, I'm not sure, etc." I asked him what time he is SCHEDULED to be in or typically comes in? Again, why can I not just have my question simply answered? Finally Bob tells me 9am. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times & have NEVER had any issues. I can't believe 1 man can be so rude to a loyal customer. I'm sorry the room didn't have half of the amenities. Now I also wonder why I was put in a room missing half of the amenities when a complete room was available! Bob's hostile, combative & rude attitude were simply disgusting. To waste the precious hours of sleep I paid for to deal with Bob is sickening & I am sick enough battling cancer. I know this area is full of low life dope heads, but I am certainly not. I am a young, professional Mechanical Engineer for a local gas company just trying to work so I don't lose my health insurance. I will never stay at this hotel again & will do my best to share my experience with my co-workers, cancer community &...
Read moreA overnight stay was around $100 including an option to cancel. The hotel is located near the interstate on a hill where you can see for many miles.
The staff was efficient and friendly. Elevator is were close to the entrance.
My room was impressive for the price. Thee was a closet with folding doors and a ironing board and iron.
There was a new desk and chair with a lamp and a connection for a laptop.
There were several lamps throughout the room. The bed was very comfortable with several pillows to choose from.
The night stand had a lamp with an electrical outlet and a digital alarm clock.
The bathroom was a nice size with a variety of thick towels. The showerhead had adjustable settings. Several trial sizes of bathroom necessities were neatly arranged on the countertop that looked like marble.
There was a large flat screen tv with remote. There was a large TV stand and a wide variety of free channels.
On the first floor they have an exercise room with three exercise machines including a modern treadmill that was easy to use. They also have two racks of weights.
Close by is a swimming po with several tables and lounge chairs. The water was clear and cool but comfortable. A key card was needed to enter both places for security.
They have an area in the lobby with places to sit and eat that look nicer than most restaurants I have been in.
Unlike some hotels they had the largest selection of drinks and breakfast items I believe I have ever seen.
You can make your own waffles. There is a container holding food like sausage patties and scrambled eggs.
There was biscuits and bagels and other wrapped sandwiches. There was also fruit and oatmeal, two types of coffee and assorted juices.
The hallways were well lit and quiet.i was able to check in before the standard 4 pm.
In my opinion this...
Read moreFor the price of the room in the area of West Virginia, two amenities listed were not functional. One being the TV, something you would expect while staying in a hotel. The other being the pool. The TV's are new, however not properly set up, so even while trying to connect to basic antenna stations they do not work. It seemed as though I would have better luck trying to fix it myself than the maintenance person who did not even know which basic cable channels the TV offered until looking at another room. My family and I stayed for 3 nights and each evening while trying to relax and get my two young children to settle, I was unable to access or navigate anything on the television. The other thing that was not great is the pool area. Again an advertised amenity. While traveling and choosing a hotel to stay with two young children on a small vacation, a hotel with a pool is a major attraction. Unfortunately the pool area is not only heated as an indoor sauna, but the family we were visiting was not able to join us due to the extreme conditions. The pool was warmer than bath water and the entire pool area is almost suffocating. Cleanliness: The mini fridge was being thawed/turned down, so before putting anything into it I had to dump a pan of dirty water out from under the small freezer most of them have. That was gross. The bathroom had a handicap seat and while cleaning the bathtub to give my kids a bath, a whole lot of yuck came flowing from it.
The beds were comfortable and the air conditioner...
