Must start this review with the following ... while Firehouse Subs remains one of my favorite sub/sandwich restaurants, I feel that I must provide an accurate & realistic review of my experience at their Conference Center Way, Bridgeport, WV, location earlier today, 22 July, 2021.
I'll get straight to the point, this was without a doubt the worst experience I have had at any Firehouse Subs to date, and I have visited & reviewed many of them over the past few years. After stopping by this afternoon (register receipt shows a 4:15 p.m. transaction, but that was after I stood at the order counter for several minutes waiting for one of the four employees behind the counter to acknowledge my presence ... but I'm getting ahead of myself), I know waaaaay too much about the personal/social life of some of the staff, as well as knowing that one particular employee who happened to be late for work today is very immature and from my observations not a productive employee because he was more interested in standing behind the counter talking to a coworker and complaining loudly about not being invited to an afterwork event the previous night to celebrate another coworker's birthday while making sure she could definitely hear his conversation. Of course that may be exactly why he was late for work because she was having to wait for him to arrive before she could leave. But let's rewind to the point where I walked into the restaurant.
Initial impression after stepping inside was this place must've been slammed for an extended period of time before my arrival because the floor obviously hadn't been cleaned/swept for quite some time and a few tables needed cleaned. There was a table of four eating, single occupants at three other tables waiting on to-go orders, and four employees behind the counter, none of which greeted me as I entered but sporadically did greet a couple during my stay. I walked past their workstations to the empty order counter and stood there for several minutes before one employee told another to take my order. A very nice young man stopped what he was doing, removed his gloves and moved to the order counter where he promptly took my to-go order. After placing the order, I went over to a table to sit and await the order to be completed. From there, I waited for what seemed like an eternity for two subs to be made while listening to all the childish shenanigans of three employees (one that had just arrived late, one that was ending her shift, & one other mainly). After awhile, my name was called and I was grateful to pickup the subs, leave the building and return to my vehicle where we planned to eat.
Upon opening the to-go containers, my initial impression was this wasn't going to be a pleasant experience as I'd come to expect at Firehouse Subs. The folded liner paper covering only the center portion of the sub where it was cut in half was a new one. I even reviewed photos from other locations and the "norm" is for this to line the entire container to prevent the sub from laying directly on the container material. Next, it was obvious that the sub bread wasn't steamed or had any prep done to it prior to the warmed contents of an Italian Sub being placed inside. This made me wonder if the employee that was late for work and just stood behind the counter running his mouth was supposed to be prepping the sub roll? Anyway, the room temp sub roll was more difficult to eat and did not mesh well with the remainder of the sub. I'm fairly certain that the cold bread was responsible for throwing off the normal wonderful flavors you find inside a Fully Involved Italian Sub. This one was sub par in so many ways. The second sub was reported to be just as much of a disappointment as mine.
Unlikely that I'll return to this location in the future and can NOT recommend that you do either. Very...
Read moreThis review was based on my visit in the late part of the afternoon on 9/25/21.Stepping inside nothing seemed out of the ordinary.Several people were waiting for their order to be ready. After placing our order we get our drink and take a table and wait for our order. One of the guys running register made some kind of comment about hoping people don't think that this place is fast food, implicating it would be while before getting served. He didn't say it to us directly but loud enough that I think each patron there would have probably heard it.The 3 guys working seemed like they were taking more time to bicker and argue than get the orders out. Both me and my girlfriend observed one of the workers cooking food, with a backwards hat proceeding to scratch his hairline.Wether or not he put a clean glove back on I couldn't tell where they were standing at.We were too hungry to say anything, plus figured he'd change his glove at some point because there were a about 3-4 orders ahead of us.My food was ok,but my girlfriends order was wrong.Put the wrong kind of meat on the sub and she couldn't stand the taste of it and threw the entire thing away. After this experience I will never be back to the Bridgeport location.Whoever is the manager needs to get a batter crew hired.I don't see how they make any $ as slow as...
Read moreVisited on 8/28/22, at 6:30pm. Not great for a typical Firehouse Subs fast food location. Food tasted fine, but the sub could have been built together a little bit better, however, this doesn’t really matter for a messy meal like a large sandwich. The employees could work on their customer service - if they were a bit nicer, this would have been a 5/5 rating review.
I’m not a very picky person, but I can recognize bad customer service skills. Employees were rude, jokes were made when customers walked in, and they were visibly annoyed to be there. This may have just been a bad night. However, someone who is in Clarksburg temporarily for work, this left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope others have a...
