I would not recommend solely on the fact that we found a bed bug on the pillow. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but ended up only staying for 1 as after the first night we went down to get breakfast and came back up and the bed bug was crawling on the pillow. I took it downstairs and the employee at the front desk had me put it in a cup and gave it to housekeeping to look at. They moved us to a different room right next door. That is all that was offered except apologies. They did not offer to let us use the accommodations they had (washer/dryer) free of charge to make sure we weren’t bringing them from one room to another. They were very nonchalant about it which is kind of concerning along with not having us take precautions to make sure they were not traveling with us. We have not traveled in over a year and this was our first family outing. We were hoping to enjoy a mini vacation but we had to cut short and headed home to take care of our things due to the potential bed bug infestation. It was almost 7:30 when we checked in the night before and when we got to the room it had a strange smell that hit you as soon as you walked in. Since it had been so long since we traveled we did not think anything of it and figured it must have been something that was used during cleaning. When we moved to the replacement room it was very apparent that the smell was not normal. We are VERY surprised that housekeeping did not pick up on the smell when it was cleaned before our arrival. I can only hope that they took necessary precautions to protect future guests and would definitely recommend that staff be trained on proper precautions when moving guests from one room to another due to evidence of bed bugs so it does not spread. If we were given necessary rectifications we probably would have stayed in the replacement room for the duration of the stay but we did not want our personal belongings sitting when they potentially could have been infiltrated with bed bugs from the original room. It is definitely a headache trying to deal with the effects of being exposed to bed bugs in...
Read moreAvoid this hotel. Melody Taylor is the worst hotel attendant I’ve ever experienced. My wife and I own and operate a construction company and are doing work for Marion County. We are from Georgia so are staying a few nights a week to complete the work. After my crew tried to check in there was apparently a reservation problem. My wife called to see what the issue was and was talked to like a dog and hung up on by the attendant, Melody. I called to see what the issue was and before I can get a single word out, I’m told off as well and Melody threatens to send my crew “out the door”, I ask to speak with her boss and am sent to a cooperate voicemail. I again try to call back numerous times only to immediately be placed on hold. After many attempts Melody finally answers and still will not tell me what the issue is and only rant to me about how she won’t listen to anything I have to say and bad mouth my employees and my wife. I again try to have a civilized conversation with her only to be hung up on once more. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the country and have never been treated this way. We have multiple more weeks to work in the area but we will not be staying here. Appalled is an understatement. I have also filed a complaint with their cooperate office. Melody is the most unprofessional desk clerk I’ve ever come in contact with and needs to terminated. She has cost this hotel now thousands of dollars because I will be taking my...
Read moreThe lady who checked us in that afternoon was very helpful and allowed me to look at the room before I decided to stay there. The room (119) was very nice. I was a little hesitant about staying because of some of the reviews that were on line. I don't know where these people stayed but, it could not have been at the Sleep Inn in Bryson City. The rooms were very nice and I am a very picky person. The bathroom was very clean and nice. My 8 year old grandson loved the shower and he is scared of everything LOL. (I say this because there was one review of someone saying something bad about the shower). One thing I would suggest is that you try to get up early for breakfast the next morning. We went to the breakfast area at 9:00 and it was full. There was no where for us to sit and that was disappointing because I feel that when you pay for a place that serves breakfast I expect to be able to eat breakfast and not have to pay again somewhere else. So don't listen to the other reviews and make your reservations to stay here you will be glad you did. We went to ride the train in Bryson City and it was right around the corner which worked out great. Also there is BoJangles, Mcdonalds, Burger King etc... right on the same road as the hotel. Great place to stay. Don't hesitate like I did and try to find something else cause other than the breakfast my family was not...
