When we booked a tiny home for a few days in Bryson City N.C. and we worried that there may be no restaurant choices which would make an impact on us. We worried we would be eating just to fill our tummy-tums. Eating food is one thing, we all do it. Every restaurant provides that service. To eat and to eat well are two very different experiences. Its nice to eat well....what can I say shrugs shoulders.
We decided to try this bistro based on suggestions from locals and I'm more than pleased that we did. People often times want and easy rating system to judge a restaurant by. The "Michelin Star" is touted as a barometer but its honestly not worth much. Just last month we ate at a 3 star and hated it. But since people like easy to gauge rankings I cannot stress enough that this is at least a 2 star Michelin food experience. Its worth making a special trip to eat here.
The food was perfect and the layers of flavor in every dish makes you savor each bite slooooowly just so you can start the tasting experience over sloooowly with the next bite. I had the 4 meat Meatloaf and my wife had the filet mignon. I was worries that the bison and/or lamb would make it too gamey or tough. It had the texture of a perfectly cooked steak with a dept of subtle flavor that was almost shocking. The filet mignon was not just perfectly cooked but it also had a sauce that paired so well with it that they synergistically elevated each other in a way that borders on supernatural. We had a trout cakes with a citrus cajun remoulade. Remember the synergistic supernatural stuff I just said, transpose that here as well. The cakes were more of a tartare inside which was incredibly delicate vs the fried panco crust. The remoulade elevated this dish beyond what should be legal for any appetizer. Hit it with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the crust and an extra dialup of the sauce, you're welcome. The blackberry cobbler a la mode was phenomenal and thats all I should have to say about it bc you've read the rest and can see that everything I've talked about thus far is worth the trip and then some.
The server, Garret, was personable and skilled. His service was top notch across the board and his suggestions hit the target every time. He made a wonderful meal into a wonderful all-round experience. The bartender made a maple bourbon manhattan that knocked me socks off. Its an absolute must for bourbon drinkers. Each course was served fast, within 12 min of one another, and thats made all the easier by the small exclusive space available for seating. Call ahead and reserve seating.
The ambience is nothing special. Its quiet and generally comfortable. I now have to share the downsides of the experience. I ordered a chai latte with desert. It was terrible. Thats it, the pre boxed mix for this chai was just terrible...there are no...
Read moreI only had to stand outside this establishment to gain the notion it would turn into a very pleasant experience and it certainly did exceeding our expectations. Their menu out front beamed with mouth watering decisions henceforth we entered their tasteful beckoning.
Practically everything is well thought after at the Everett including the hand sanitizer being of the Biosilk brand in lieu of loathsome Purell. The wooden floor and walls are stained in a tasteful mountain decor hue and adorned with eclectic beer plaques and local destinations inside picture frames. They have a beautiful lamp where we sat at the bar next to a darling stack of spirit cocktail bookery. The lightbulb in the lamp however should be replaced with an incandescent bulb due to energy saving bulbs emitting dirty energy EMFs.
Now for the cuisine. My goodness gracious the trout cakes were the best we've ever devoured even though we've never enjoyed such a notion! Just imagine a crab cake prepared in the most ultimate culinary splendour! The crab bisque was also to die for being laced with the most delicate of dainty herbaceous-ness! Following, we shared the filet mignon for our entrée and it was delicious accompanied by delectably creamy sauce while being perfectly cooked at medium rare. I have to be honest in saying without the sauce it tasted a bit lackluster.
We tried a trio of different cocktails crafted with the ultimate care and ingredients. The mule was the BEST we've ever had and we found its candied ginger garnish to be a most perfect pairing.
The desserts in entirety sounded positively sinful and we probably would have ordered an apple crisp and brownie sundae if it weren't for them being reheated in a microwave only prior to being served. A restaurant of this higher caliber should not even have a microwave in their kitchen.
Lastly and absolutely not leastly the staff provided 5 STAR service and were positively a joy to interact with! We honestly look forward to numerous happy returns! Thank you kindly for making the finale of our stay in Bryson...
Read moreWe were excited to partake of the locavore menu and casual atmosphere, especially after a nice afternoon in the river. We are two young families with two toddlers and a baby. We arrived before dinner began, around 4-something and were somewhat surprised that when we entered the coffee shop side that no one approached us. I had to cross the room and other patrons to speak with the hostess about what we wanted/needed. In total we were 7 people, and she offered to seat us at a 4-top with added high chairs, or she'd set up a table in the dining area. When we noted the 4-top wouldn't be big enough with plates, etc., only then did she say yes, she'd set up the dining room table. We were seated and served quickly enough, however one in our party had to wait until the rest of us were either nearly completely or already done, for his entree to arrive. During this period we were met with a variety of annoyed stares from the staff - we're used to it with patrons, but from staff it's not appropriate. We chose to eat early before any significant dinner rush, we addressed the needs of our children (which were not overly problematic - they're young children afterall) as quickly and appropriately as possible, but still were clearly but informally shown that our kids were annoying... as if we don't know that already.
Now, if you don't have kids, I say enjoy it! The food was good and the drinks were nice - the wine and beer list is well appreciated. The ambiance and decor is comfortable, and I like to think that this establishment is one that is enjoyed by both tourists and locals. The prices are very nice as well, though to be clear we ate off the lunch menu. If I'm ever back with no or older kids,...
