BEDBUGS! BEDBUGS! Horrible customer service. Not even close to clean or newly renovated. Unless renovated In the owners language means old burnt up carpet, holes in walls and doors, broken bathroom fixtures, barely hot water for a shower only. The owner tried to lie and avoid me once I asked if he was the manager. I along with 5 other families were staying side by side. My room 204 had bedbugs. I woke up to them biting and falling of me and all over and under our mattresses and box springs( their ripped mattress and boxspring covers are serving no purpose). Haha one was taped together. The manager saw a bed bug I killed that was full of blood and agreed the room had them. Actually he didn’t seem surprised one bit. The manager acted as if it was a huge burden a guest called him.He gave me my room only free and moved me to another room where I immediately found dirty sheet and spiders behind head boards, stinkbug, and nasty hair and old signs of bedbug signs ( I.e black little dots behind head board and end tables) I mean wouldn’t you think to least go in the new room to make sure all is Well and especially no damn bugs! He also never inspected my other family’s rooms and didn’t move them ; in which he should because bedbug treatmeants must be done with infested rooms sealed off and treated for weeks and any adjacent rooms must be treated. The manager once he admitted he was in fact the manager told me I would not receive a full refund for me and my whole family of 12 plus who drove 4 hrs to ride the polar express. He said you could not stay here tonight if you’d like but no money back. Anddddd uhhh where can we find 5! Rooms during the holidays We had a late ride time for the polar express so we were forced to stay another night. Never heard again from the rude Indian manager. This place is known to have repetitive issues of pest problems. The swaine county department of health said they knew this place very well. NEVER EVER STAY HERE. I’m On vacation and then it all gets dictated due to the disgusting fact of blood suckers on me In my bed and my 5 yr old & 5 months old bed. This place should be condemned . Suggestion: if it’s Not American owned! Then it’s not for...
Read moreWe stayed the night here because of convenience of the location, as we were going to ride the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad the following morning. Bad idea. Very run down. The showerhead was held on with duct tape. There were extra pillows in the drawers of the TV console, but one glance and we knew we weren't touching them...had what looked like moldy spots on them. Yuck. The a/c worked, but was dirty and the actual vent was not even there, so you couldn't position the air flow. Screens were dirty and didn't even fit in the windows correctly. The ceiling was terrible. Paint was peeling and parts of it were sagging. Also, wall sockets were scarce. So if you needed to charge anything, take your pick of which you needed charged up most. Worst of all, the only locks on the door were the chain lock and a regular lock like you would find in an interior room! Just a simple doorknob and lock, no dead bolt. The traffic was loud too. Sounded like a small town, where teenagers have nothing better to do than rev their engines and drive around all night. Do yourself a favor and find...
Read moreI picked this old fashioned Motel because reviews promised a caring and attentive owners, family, cleanliness, and location. Everything was as promised. Our room had nice TV, refridge, microwave, and updated shower. An older refurbished Motel. The best part is located within 2 blocks of downtown. We walked everywhere. Buy your train tickets early, and reserve room early at peak times. This town fills up. Town has nice restaurants, and sights, and coffee shops. The model train museum is covered with the price of train ride. Save an hour or so to see the museum. Only downside is parking spaces are a little small, but you'll probably walk everywhere anyways. Even though you don't get an option online to skip the parking pass at the train, I called after booking and they refunded parking to my CC. Only 20 min drive to Cherokee Casino....
