The first thing to understand is that many of the positive reviews you may read about this motel on Yelp and Trip Advisor are paid for: there'a a sign in the lobby saying that if you post a positive review on both sites and send screenshots to Best Host Inn management, they'll take 10% off your bill. 😳So when you see a five-star review here, know that it was motivated by a desire for someone to save money, not accurately review the motel. I can't stress how important this is to understand: people are not mentioning any problems they have because they are getting money to do so. 🙄This goes against everything that Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews are supposed to represent and is profoundly dishonest.
First, the positives: the location is great if you're going to Knottsberry Farm or Knott's Soak City. Both are in easy walking distance. Upon check-in we were given a gift for each kid (a large pen) which was a nice surprise. The check-in process was fast and easy. In our room there was a little welcome basket with some food and a bottle of wine. The breakfast is quite decent - fresh waffles - and it exceeded my expectations. These are all thoughtful touches. Unfortunately they in no way outweigh the problems with the room itself.
Now, the negatives...and there are a lot. We started killing ants in our room when we arrived and didn't stop until we checked out. Ants crawling in the shower. Yuck. The hotel is very old and in poor shape. The walls are thin so it's easy to hear everyone around you (we were on the top floor thankfully). The AC unit is old, loud, weak, and right next to one bed. We had to leave it running all night just to keep the room lukewarm, but my son (in the bed next to the AC unit) was freezing all night because of it. When we went out for dinner we took the stairs down and one of the light covers had fallen and shattered in the stairwell; there was broken glass everywhere. Only one of the lights had a cover. Someone had killed and stepped on three bumble bees, and the floor was swarming with ants eating the dead bugs. Walking to our car we saw an empty bottle of booze outside someone's door, and a full wine bottle outside another door. Returning from dinner we heard someone's in-room security alarm going off. There are cigarette butts everywhere in the stairwell and hallways. When nightfall came, there was a large bright light outside our room window, and the curtains do little to block the light so the whole room was lit up. Idiots use the main road the hotel is on to drive very fast, very loud cars. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable. I slept two hours max that night.
Before going to bed my wife and I had a reality check and realized we didn't want to stay more than the one night, so I called down to the front desk around 11pm and asked if we could check out the next morning. The guy said yes, no problem, and they'd refund our remaining days. We checked out the next morning at 10am and the maintenance guy - who was apparently also the manager on duty - informed me that there would be no refund from them and I'd have to sort it out with Expedia myself. Not what I wanted to hear. We received a three-night refund; we used one night, and apparently they keep one extra night's charge as a penalty for checking out early.
I regret booking a room here and believing all the falsely positive reviews by people who only cared about getting 10% of...
Read moreI wish I could say my stay was pleasant, but it was anything but that. As soon as my wife and two kids arrived, the place looked questionable. But we remained optimistic considering a sign mentioned they had new rooms. In my mind that meant it was recently renovated. However, as I soon found out, that was not the case. While waiting to check-in I heard another guest complain that his restroom wasn't working, and the guy at the front desk offered him to use the restroom they had in the lobby while they sent maintenance up to his room. This should have been red flags, but unfortunately we continued with our plans to check in. We were surprised to find out they required a $50 deposit. To make matters worse we were given a room (310) which was in the 3rd floor, this would have been okay except the elevator was not working. One of the maids said she had informed the front desk and management so my wife went back to the lobby to complain and use the restroom since we couldnt get to our room. My wife informed me that the manager Moe did not let her use their restroom, which was stupid because his employee asked another guest if he wanted to use the restroom earlier. That same manager also played ignorant when mentioning the elevator was not functional. His response was that "It couldn't be down and he'd have maintenance look into it. I took pictures just in case he tried to dispute it. In the end he provided us with a room on the first floor (Room 107) which was very disgusting and had a foul odor. He mentioned that this room was bigger than what we were going to get, but it wasn't. I think he thought I was boo boo the foo, but he lied about the size, it was the same size, the only difference is that they crammed bunk beds next to the queen beds. The carpet was wet and after an hour of our daughters crawling, their hands, arms, legs, and feet were as black as if they were rolling around in fresh asphalt. On top of that, we found ourselves killing multiple fruit flies, anf by the time we started counting we had killed 14, and there were still several. Bed sheets were stained and beds were ridiculously uncomfortable to the point that neither my wife or I got any rest. Moreover, the AC wasn't that great and seemed to only run on one speed... low. This place should be ashamed of themselves, and that Manager Moe should be fired, he's not doing this location or company any good. And if he's the owner, this place is going under. I guess we learned a valuable lesson, you get what you pay for. I WOULD RECCOMED EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, and if your'e looking for a low cost place to stay at... try Motel 6, at least with them you know what to expect. This place is something else. I'm going to laugh if they follow this up with the generic "I apologize we didn't live up to our normal standards" speech... save it. If you really want to make things right, offer us a refund or update travel sites to show what your rooms actually look like, fix ongoing issues (wet dirty carpets, outdated tile floors and bathrooms, fruit fly infestation, get new furniture, and new AC units)... when that's fixed offer us a complimentary stay and I'll be more than happy to update my review. Outside of that, shame on this hotel for trying to take advantage of people by providing false...

First off, on the back of the key card holder, it says "report suspicious persons or acts". When I told the front desk that some guy tried to follow my 8 year old daughter into the room when we checked in, the person told me "what do you want me to do about it?" and then laughed.
This happened when we went into the room and I was looking in the bathroom to see if it was clean after I saw the whole housing cover of the air conditioner laying on the floor. It is a hazard for any reason and especially when you have smaller children, which I have.
I asked for room change and the person said I would be fine being in that room. He would not refund my money because they need you to cancel 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE to get a refund. There will be NO REFUND given if they are "booked". After complaining and a bit of arguing, they put me in a different room (after he said there were no more rooms).
This room was close to the office and away from the other side of the motel. This made things a little better.
I asked the front desk employee not to send the maintenance man to the room till I was there because I had expensive equipment in the room and he did not listen and said things would be fine. He told me not to worry because the maintenance man wouldn't steal anything. I explained that I did not trust anyone, so I just wanted to be there.
When walking back to our room to get our things, the door was left wide open. The person fixing the air conditioner didn't even close the door while he repaired the problem. I'm sorry, this isn't care for other people's property or safety.
I also had to put down towels on our bathroom floor because the floors were so dirty. We take our shoes off in any place we walk in. Our feet became black from walking around the room and bathroom. So, this place needs an overhaul.
Do not expect good breakfast here, clean rooms (unless you have bad eyes), understanding staff, kid friendly hotel, or comfort here. The beds felt well worn and the furniture in both rooms were beat up badly. Spiders, gnats and other bug problems too. I believe the television was local access since qubo was on there along with the fuzzy channels on the tv.
It is true that they offer an 8% discount on your stay with a good review. As long as the review is done within 7 days of stay. If they concentrated on fixing up this place, spraying for bugs, retraining the staff, customer service and actually having better food (hold the flies landing on the dry crumbling eggs that had no cover on it) and all around a comfortable stay, then I think they wouldn't have to offer a discount for a fake review.
Save yourself a headache and do not stay here unless you simply don't care about these...
