BED BUGS IN ROOM 24! My boyfriend and I have been hiking on the Continental Divide Trail and had to detour this way from Salida for a night. The room seemed fine when we first got there, despite odd decor choices such as carpeted flooring. However, I awoke to find bites all over me and after searching the bed I found an adult sized bug in the sheets. I put it in a tissue and brought it to management and they were extremely rude and dismissive. Despite having proof, the owners blamed us and kicked us out of the room, at which point I called the police. After spending about 20 minutes talking to the police, the owner was still unwilling to refund us (apparently they are not required to in Colorado!) and I am now filing a claim with my credit card company and with the health department. I am very disappointed to have been treated this poorly and now have to waste my day at a laundromat making sure no bugs got on our hiking equipment while we were there. If you stay here just know the owners will not be kind if you have issues.

So, if you don’t care about your safety, showering or having a clean place to sleep, this is cheap and easy. So! Let me tell you about my experience- the door lock.. didnt work, and the chain to it took some serious yanking to get into the hole, only to pop back out with the pressure from the door. The small shower gives you an option of super hot or ice cold water, but nothing in between, and they use dirty rags on the bottom of the furniture to “keep it clean”. When I tried to address my concerns about the safety, they basically told me “too bad” and charged me for an extra day for cancelling my reservation. Did I mention the walls are paper thin and you hear EVERYTHING from the rooms around you? Fun. 0/10- it may be cheap, but it isn’t worth the money you spend.

This is a great hotel. I have traveled and stayed at hotels across the country. Nice little desk for working. It is a perfect setup for biz man travel. The owner was very nice and had coffee and donuts for people in the morning. Highly recommend for 60 bucks a night. Also one of the only hotels that will accept cash in the area. My card got lost and I had a dentist appointment here in Canyon City today.

The man at the front gave us a room for a night since we have been driving for 10 hours to arrive in Canon City. In middle of night/morning my travel partner threw up and felt horrible so I asked for one more night in the morning from the lady at the front desk and she said okay and gave her the cash. I asked for some clean sheets because my travel partner threw up in bed uncontrollably and unexpectedly. I cleaned up as much as I could because I do not have cleaning supplies and I offered to wash the sheets for them. Later on they tell me I must leave because apparently he needed to clean the room and couldn't let us stay another night. So I asked for a refund and he said evacuate the room then we will. So that's what we did then they come back saying they will only give me $30 back and that he threw the sheets away and won't be able to use the room for another customer. Okay so since the room had throw up incidents why couldn't we have went ahead and stayed the extra night we paid for? He owed me $65 because the night before when you pay in cash ($65) you have to leave cash deposit. ($30) and then I paid for another night in the morning ($65) but the women did not take a cash deposit. So all I got back was $30 for the deposit the night before and didn't even get to stay for the extra night I paid for. They did not care whatsoever that my travel partner was not feeling okay at all and rushed us...

Filthy. So filthy. Overall I liked it. Reasonably priced. Decent air conditioning. Spacious room. Table and seating. Wifi was strong with no streaming issues. There is a lengthy set of rules to adhere to. No visitors after 10pm struck me as oddly.

But one thing gave me pause: that was the filthiness of the carpet. It is the first, and only, place I have stayed where, upon walking around barefoot, my feet were literally black with filth. Yes black. No joke. No lie. The bottoms of my feet were black with filthy filth.

It was, admittedly, a smoking room, and a tobacco smell permeated the room. So the smoke entered the carpet. But how long does it take for it to get to the point where black sooty ashy filth gets so bad that it leaves its mark on the bottom of your feet? They really need to clean the carpets regularly in there. Any place where walking around the room causes filthy black filth on the bottom of your feet is just appalling.

I shudder to think when the last time the carpets were cleaned. I would pay top dollar to see the water after a good carpet cleaning. It will probably be thick tar black as night sludge.

I would stay here again. I urge wearing socks at all times. Or shoes. Wash your feet regularly. Do it. You'll be...

What to say about the American Inn motel... in short, our stay here was one 16 hour long anxiety attack. To be clear, the owners are nice in their own way but DO NOT STAY HERE without reading all the reviews and rules first so you know what you're getting into. This is less a motel and more a place where you pay to subject yourself to the expectations of someone else. There are two double beds - but you are NOT allowed more than two people in a room. If you have guests, the owners will see you on CCTV (day and night) and come knock on your door and yell at you. We had some friends staying at another hotel who came to get ready with us before the 4th of July - 5 minutes after they walked in, the owner pounded on the door while I was in the shower to try to kick them out. When we came back to go to sleep we sat in the car scared that they would come back to the room and try to kick us out on the street or call the police on us (per previous reviews). We did not get kicked out, and the owner gave me a frozen water bottle in the morning along side some extra...
