This is a wonderful museum that is a surprise with the historic exhibits and the dinosaur bones. It is very well done and it was free the exhibit of historic clothing “Head to Toe” was quite good. Also “Dalls” room was very interesting. We took well over an hour but we love museums such as this gem. Also a great history of the Royal Gorge bridge. A short walk from the Royal Gorge Railroad and worth the visit.

Wonderful museum! A great museum to learn a lot about the area and it's history! Especially if you're a local. If you live in the area and you've never been here before, you must go!

I learned so much about canyon City today! I came for the unveiling of a dinosaur bone that was discovered in the area.

I am only an occasional visitor to the Regional Museum and Historical Center. Having lived in Cañon City for 50 years now I can say a few things:

The staff is very helpful. The history center is responsive to email and phone requests about local history. They maintain well organized archives. The small but, dedicated staff is protective of the artifacts and archives, but share and display them whenever possible. The director has interesting articles in our newspaper that I also enjoy reading. Several times during the year they refresh theme displays about periods in Cañon City and Fremont County history. The history center also works with teachers in the schools to reach our students with...

We stopped in the other day, as we are working on a documentary and were seeking some archival newspapers, and the SECOND we walked in we were warmly greeted and immediately shown exactly where to go. The staff was so pleasant, helpful, sweet, and friendly - they made our research process SO simple by promptly tracking down two file folders filled with information on the subject we were after. This place is SO cool and I cannot recommend visiting enough - it’s even free and on a donation only basis!!! Thank you all so much for your help with everything - we cannot express enough...

It's a fairly small museum, but that is actually a benefit. They were cleaning a dinosaur bone they found locally and the personnel doing it interacted with my 2 boys. That doesn't happen in bigger museums. It's mostly focused on local history, which is surprisingly rich. We were visiting from out of town and needed to kill some time before our train ride. It's definitely worth the admission price, which is free. Stop by if you're in town and you won't be...
