Very strange place. No staff on duty when we arrived mid-afternoon. Mostly occupied by permanent residents which makes you feel like you're an invader. One night was plenty. Sign says "No Alcohol"...what????? Later found out that means "in the park" not in the campground. So, go ahead and have a drink - you'll need it when you wish you were camping somewhere else. Sage Bar & Grill with live entertainment nearby is pretty good - check it out.

Great campground, if your not looking for your typical state park campground. My son and I stayed here to race in Alabama. It seemed to be mostly full-time people. Everyone was really nice and even on the weekend it was extremely quiet. The bathhouse was the only thing I would complain about. It was functional. I would stay here again, convenient to restaurants and walmart.

Horrible place. This campground is largely occupied by residents, some of them sketchy. The gravel roads are washed out with lots of dangerous dips. One campsite had a burned out shell of a travel trailer. At one time, someone cared for this place but no longer.

First impression was not good, lots of older, permanent campers that don't have a warm and welcoming appearance. Our site, B7 is a pull thru that meet our needs, and actually has a partial view of the lake. The park is in a beautiful setting, however, as you walk around you will notice quite a few dilapidated trailers with unkempt yards. There are a lot of rules here including one about having to pay for a background check. We were not asked to pay the $15 required for it and assume it's meant for long term residents. Absolutely no alcohol is allowed on the property. The rules make it sound like a safe, quiet place. This place is anything but quiet. People allow their DOGS TO BARK ALL NIGHT!!! It seems to be the permanent residents who put their dogs out and are too lazy to wait for them to do their business and let them back in. Instead they wait for them to bark a few minutes. One barked for 10 minutes each time it was let out. I'm a huge animal lover but no one wants to be kept up all night because of barking. There also doesn't seem to be a speed limit. I watched a little white car come barreling down the hill at the entrance about a dozen times! You can have all the rules in the world, if there's no one here to enforce them, some people will break every...

A lot of improvements been made, including water system and some pull through sites down by the lake.

New bathhouse under Construction.

Older campground that the city purchased from a church.

50 amp amd 30 amp services common at each sute and a 15 amp single leg too. No power issues. Used my Humphrey and only once did it show a yellow indication of imbalanced leg load. Very hot day. Water is good quality from the city system. Pressure fluctuates.

Stayed 6 months for work.

36foot class A with a toad.

Many long term residents. Some with very nicely decorated sites. Good people.

Teresa in the office has been great to work with.

Some sites not leveled the best, but they are improving. Full time grounds crew.

Near Walmart, Bertilones is a great Italian place. Car washes, Cracker barrel. Chick filet, sonic, QT truck stop and weighscale.

4 hours to Pensacola.

I65 freeway is has extreme heavy traffic on Saturdays and Sundays for beach goers in the summer and sports games in the fall. Plan your...

I would never stay at this park again. Staff was NOT friendly the sites were quite uneven no concrete just stones. Required a deposit for a bathroom key we didn’t need the powers box is locked up and the deposit took almost a week and a half to get back. Location was tucked way back behind some businesses with NO, I mean NO signage to follow to get to the park. We ended up on a dead end street at first with a circular end thank god to turn around. We are in a 40’ motorhome with tow. GPS was no help either. Wow what a fiasco. Spring for a few signs with arrows. The park is 90% full time residents with maybe 5 overnight sites no one at the office or signage pointing which way to sites. We had to wing it. Anyway it was a place to park for the night but next time Walmart or Cracker Barrel if in the area. Unfortunately Birmingham South was...
