This is the most disgraceful, disgusting Waffle House I’ve have ever been to! Especially to be the only location for 15 miles to the next in Pelham! The SECOND CHANCE rude employees you can tell have never truly had a job in customer services or in the food servicing industry! I eat at this location weekly, but it’s through take out and my husband is the actual customer but last night, a rude cook by the name of “Bobby” upon entering did not GREET the guest nor the the other two employees a cook and “the only server” for the night shift. Bobby the cook immediately stated, “We only have the bar top open, and we are not doing any take out, so you will have to leave if you don’t want to sit here.” While the LEFT side of the restaurant was blocked off, but with a single guest sitting in the back window booth. At this point a family was leaving, therefore I told Bobby the cook, that we would like to sit at their booth if the staff could bust the table, he then point and sarcastically stated, you can wait a second give her “The waitress” a minute and she’ll clean it! As she busted, while the other family waited in line to checkout, and as my family stands waited to be seat, a random couple came in and immediately sat down. By this time “A second sever” who came from a smoke break outside then to the restroom, asked me what I needed, I assume she had to be On the Clock because she began to check out the family that was waiting to be cashed out, she said to me if you’re not going to be seated then you need to leave because we’re not doing to go orders I immediately asked for manager because at this point if you were the second server on the clock why can’t you open up the other side of the restaurant so we can sit down, Because they only service I was getting from this restaurant at this point was orders being BARKED from people who thought they were in upper management to a ME the customer until I ask for a manager. I will not mention the names of the others employees only Bobby, because Bobby was the one who told me I can leave if I didn’t wanna sit down because they weren’t taken to go orders. The server it was willing to take my order and help us I mentioned to her that the fact that you cannot take a to go order for me because the cook told you you cannot took money from out of your hands because had I stayed and sat down it would’ve taken the exact amount of Time to cook the food and serve it to my family and I and you also could’ve had another table sitting at the table we could’ve stayed at. My 30+ years of eating at waffle House this Calera location on HWY 31 has been my worst experience! The training should be better and the staff need to respect guest! I don’t care how many people do not want to work, if your doors are open you should do your best and diligence to Serve all customers, Especially if you want to be the face of the restaurant, Or you can be the reason that a restaurant get a bad...
Read moreThey didn't put any onions on the patty melt. They didn't have pickles on the side. I've been eating at Waffle House my entire life and this one is the only one that does it differently. Also they have a couple of scummy regulars here.
So I'm adding something a year later. I'm going to change my stars too. They won't answer the phone to save their life. It's really frustrating because they are slow here and I don't usually have an extra 20 or 30 minutes to waste. I call in my order so it's ready to go when I get there. I can just run in and grab it and go. They have never answered the phone. I would love to get a few sandwiches on my way to work but I can't because I can't order anything ahead of time so it's ready when I get there. If I stop here I have to wait for a waitress to get off her butt and come take my order then she's got to figure out how to call it out which takes a few minutes for the dumb ones and then when it's ready they won't hand it to you. They holler for the waitress who's outside smoking and playing with the phone. I messed up and stopped on my way to work thinking it was 2 in the morning and surely they would be able to get it done in a timely manner. Nope. Not a bit of it. I heard that phone ring while I was in there. I was the only customer and not one of the 3 employees even looked in the direction of the telephone. I ended up having to go behind the counter and grab my food because the waitress wasn't coming and the cook wouldn't hand it to me. I threw too much cash on the high bar and left. It's really pathetic that people don't have any more pride in whatever they are doing. If you scoop dog crap for a living you should have enough integrity to do a good job because you agreed to do it. These people...
Read moreMade an online order on 11/25 at 6:10 and my order was scheduled to be ready at 6:34. I pulled at 6:40 to mildly packed restaurant and and advised that i had a online order and the young lady advised it would be up shortly. After ten minutes another worker walked up to the young lady and said hey have you called this online order and the lady says no...i looked a little perplex cause again i placed the order online 40mins ago. The young lady then proceeds to call my order incorrectly but at this point I've in restaurant 15 mins so i wasn't about to correct her and add additional time. While i was waiting another online order came in and the young lady with pink tinted hair proceeds to grab the order ticket and say "uggh we are getting a lot of online orders with no tip" and proceeds to just lay the ticket down without calling the order as well in the now empty restaurant mind you i don't tip online usually, i go in and tip pretty generously (usually half of whatever my total is) according to the service i receive. Finally i walk out at 7:05 with my online order i placed at 6:10. Needless to say this is why i don't tip online....and also here is a tip if you're calling online orders to the cook based off tips that's pretty...
