Read through a lot of the reviews here just to see if I was "off" with my experience at Las Mesas and got to say. Everyone has a unique review but all about the same. I am from SC but my son just moved to Calera for his new teaching job. This was the first place we hit up. Service - I know who my server was but there were about 4 people who tended our table. It was unbelievable at how quick someone would walk by without "asking" just to check on you. 5 star. Food - although you can have sub par Mexican food, I'm not sure it is possible here. My wife got the quesadillas and son got the fajitas. I wanted to try the pollo fundido and was not let down. Total greatness on all three plates. We did get some queso and I wanted to try the quacamole, but didn't. Why, the salsa and chips had me at chip one and I never put them down. The guy that was in the serving area saw my bowl went low and he came over the "pitcher of salsa" and we joked about how much I put down. 5 star. Atmosphere - some on here have said that it reminds them of Mexico. IDK about that because I have only been to the resorts of Mexico and not trying to play down the place. It was right up there with the Mexico area in Epcot. To my delight they even had some American Football on the the multiple TVs on a college Saturday. 5 star.

Easily the best Mexican Grill that I have had. Need to get back down to Calera to visit my son and a no brainer...

The high rating for this place is no joke - it’s my favorite Tex-mex restaurant. The employees are all super friendly and helpful. The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. They also don’t charge me out the wazoo when I customize my plate. The owner (I think) also constantly walks the floor and interacts with his customers, which is a big reason I think this place is so popular. The same employees greet you and serve you, so you can tell they’re well taken care of. Small establishments like this are rare. I love this place!

Edit: it’s been a year and this place has been as consistent as ever, eating here once a week. The food is great and the employees are even better.

Edit: Another year (or so) has gone by with me eating here almost weekly. The only times I skip are when I'm out of town. I've gotten the same thing every week: a plate of nachos piled high with all the good stuff. It's been the same consistency every time, meaning it's been great. Can't recommend this place enough. The best part might be the customer service! They're awesome folks. I made an AWESOME discovery too: they have home made habanero salsa. It is the absolute BOMB!!!
