I travel often and stay in hotels in every state. I use chain hotels for consistency in cleanliness and service. Sometimes they are short staffed, sometimes they are overbooked and limited. Never have I been handed a set of sheets to change my own because the ones on my bed were obviously not clean.
Saturday, Aug 17th we traveled in for an event. At 4p we're were told our room wasn't clean yet. She gave no time frame. It ended up being after 5 before she gave us our key and said it still isn't clean but it will be whenever you get back. We had an event to attend and needed to change. We couldn't. The front desk attendant also could not think outside the box and offer another room. When asked she checked and said no clean rooms were available.
After 11p when we returned we went to our room and the door was open. We pulled the covers back in 327 to find hair, a lot of long hair all over the sheets and the sheets were more than slept in. The bathroom was also dirty but the towels were folded.
My wife went down to the front desk and Ray, who was very nice, offered a new upgraded room and reminded her about breakfast. He have her the room key for 133. My wife went down to room 133 to find the jacuzzi tub filthy as if someone pilled thier kids in after a long day of playing in the dirt. It had a black scum line around it and dirt. She returned to Ray and had him come look at the room himself. He said he could refund us and I could go somewhere else.
At that point it was after midnight and we had a truck and trailer. He then offered a new set of sheets for the old room. We reluctantly made the bed up and tried to sleep.
In the morning the bill was under my door as if this was all the norm. Full price. We went down to the front desk and were told we would have to reach out to the manager. The part that bothered us the most is the way all three front desk attendants were not the least bit taken back, it was obviously Comfort Inn status quo to have a guest upset and the response was less than 'sucks to be you'. Grabbing a set of sheets while deployed is acceptable. In a chain hotel in Ebensburg, PA? Poor Management.
There were housekeepers walking and gathered everywhere while we initially sat and waited for our room. By the looks of 133 your hotel has no way of knowing which room is clean and ready and which one is still dirty. There was a clear expectation of paying customers can accept the or just leave was clear.
This isn't housekeeping, lack of staff or training. This is poor management and lack of accountability. If this is the new standard at Comfort Inn I'll stay elsewhere and be sure to tell all within earshot of my experience. I expected more, than at least a refund and was handed a card and told to call management as if the front desk clerk says that phrase all day...

Read moreUpon arriving at the property I noticed it was in need of a facelift however that didn't Define what was inside. When I walked in the hotel was mediocre but I noticed signs of a broken elevator and I have a knee replacement so walking stairs is not a good thing. I also noticed the sign letting you know that the pool was out of order. It was not very bright at the front desk area or in the sitting area at all. I had to make an emergency trip for my college student at the hospital so I left all my belongings at home and they only were able to give me a toothbrush and a small amount of toothpaste which was fine but just be aware if you forget anything you will definitely be shopping at 3:00 a.m. or you will go without. When I finally made the long trip up to my room through the stairwell which I was completely creeped out about and got to my room oddly enough the room did not have a weird smell it smelled very clean but it was in desperate need of updating paint and repairs. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in my entire life if I were able to sleep. I don't know whether it's because of the uneasy vibe that I got or the fact that I was by myself but I probably didn't sleep for more than 20 minutes. Upon entering the breakfast area I couldn't wait to get coffee and eat a hot breakfast and it was probably the absolute most worst experience for food and drink at any hotel I've ever had. The food was completely cold and not cooked properly the potatoes were still cold in the center as if they were frozen. They served some sort of hash that looked like dog vomit. The coffee was very cold and when I had asked the attendant if she was making fresh coffee she said yes and she proceeded to break down the breakfast area 45 minutes before breakfast was over and there were still a few guests coming down to get food and coffee and she was taking utensils away and what little bit of dried up old food there was. The staff was friendly though. The maintenance man I'm not sure what he was doing he must have walked by me 500 times...
