This was our first visit to Cambria and we are SO glad we chose the Cambria Beach Lodge during our stay. Upon arrival we were greeted with friendly staff as we checked in. Their lobby, which has a GORGEOUS ocean view drew us in with its modern coastal vibe, inviting fireplace and lounging area where one could easily enjoy a relaxing afternoon reading and watching the waves.

I should mention that the Cambria Beach Lodge is located DIRECTLY across from Moonstone Beach which makes it a perfect spot for us as a family to enjoy. We took many walks along the boardwalk as we explored the beach and of course collected moonstones - which was another highlight for our two young girls.

Our room was as relaxing as our first look at their lobby. A well designed beach inspired decor, a simple and minimalist style that we all enjoyed. The walls are a combination of white and teal, which is again carried through to the teal bathroom floor. As a lover of all things clean, bright (and teal), this was simply fabulous! (NO ugly wallpaper or old carpet here! - which we have repeatedly seen at several luxury hotels lately, gross).

Cambria Beach Lodge nailed style and comfort for their guests! Despite the cool temperatures we enjoyed the warmth of their new down comforters, and fireplace during the evening.

The continental breakfast of fruit, coffee, juice, milk, light pastries etc. was perfect for us as we headed out for another stroll along the boardwalk of moonstone beach.

The staff was always helpful with recommendations of nearby restaurants and favorite places to explore with our girls.

Our first night we enjoyed dining at the Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill, about a 5min. walk from the CBL. Their food was excellent and so was the sunset view! I loved that we were so close to the CBL, and the beach! It was SO easy to get around the town, which is about a 7min drive from CBL.

Cambria is a small little town filled with art, history and character that we found to be inspiring and relaxing. We are planning to visit again next year and stay much longer. I highly recommend the Cambria Beach Lodge for anyone traveling the coast looking for a modern, relaxing beach location! LOVED it!!!

P.S. Thank you again to the amazing staff; Valeria, Kimberly, Iliana and Kyle! We will be...

Call it what is — a MOTEL with a fresh coat of paint and a good photographer.

At $300 a night, this is highway robbery. The rooms have little to no privacy, no fridge, no safe, no fan, no AC (granted you don’t need it), no cell service, slow internet that often stops working and requires a VPN, no wine glasses, a rock hard bed, and paper-thin walls. You better like your neighbors who watch tv until 3am! What the property does have is that it is located across the street from Moonstone Beach, having nice bath products, charming (but dated) beach bohemian styling, and easy parking.

I came to this property because they are dog friendly and the property looks stunning in photos. I wish that I had done a little more research. Apart from the privacy issues (your neighbors will see you lay in bed when your blinds are open, which is needed to circulate and cool the air), the biggest issue was not having a micro fridge. As someone who needs to keep their medications refrigerated, I had to resort to keeping them in an ice pack. Don’t worry though, they have an ice a machine! They did offer to hold the medication behind the desk in one of a few communal refrigerators, but we were too afraid to risk it with the pandemic. Unfortunately, the entire town was booked out and I was stuck having to make the property work. I stayed at this property for three nights at just under 1k! You could say that I feel ripped off.

I do want to give a shout out to the general manager who did his best to apologize for the inconvenience of no mini fridge by dropping off a nice bottle of Pinot. I have a feeling he did everything possible given the limitations likely set by the property owners. If this property was under $150 a night and had a mini fridge, it would be 3 stars. However, for $300 with no basic room essentials or privacy, I can’t rate this property more than 2 stars.

After visiting, it’s very apparent that they did some good marketing and hired a good photographer to make this place appear to be something more than it is. It’s a motel with a fresh coat of paint across the street...

Stopped in after dark looking for a room. Desk attendant indicated they had a room for a certain price. She then indicated there was an "optional" package for $12 which included parking in front of your room, Wifi, and light breakfast. I asked where we would park if we did not buy the optional package and was told "elsewhere on the property". We decided to take the optional package for the breakfast, if nothing else. When we got to the room we realized we were never told the Wi-Fi password and there were a number of food items on the counter. I returned to the front desk. When I asked what the Wi-Fi password was, I was told there was not one. I asked that I didn't really need the optional package for the Wi-Fi and was told "I guess that's correct, some clerks just tell people that". I asked about the items in the room and was presented with a price list that had not been mentioned. I returned to room and my wife indicated there was no refrigerator. We had been on the road all week with snacks and needed a refrigerator. (what hotel doesn't have a refrigerator and microwave?). We decided to find another hotel. I returned to the desk and indicated our desire not to stay. The desk clerk indicated she didn't know how too issue a refund and would have to speak with the manager and he was not there. I politely asked if she would contact him to ensure we would get a refund before we left (It seemed unlikely she would follow through if we left). She reluctantly called the manager "Ryan". I heard her say in front of me "the customer DEMANDED I call you and get a refund.". After a brief discussion with him she indicated he would issue a refund that night.

We had been driving down the California coast for 10 days. This was without any doubt the worst check-in and rudest desk clerk we encountered. This motel seems just be interested in squeezing what money they can from you while providing minimal amenities. It was also the most expensive place we checked-in including a beachfront hotel in...

Sierra, the bibliophile, was always the consummate professional. Erika at the front desk provided the best tip for where to take the dogs on a hike, how to visit the tide pools, forrest trails on the ranch. We came across three elk, which was surreal, I'm told by locals that is a rare sighting on the coast. Incredible. Stood in silence looking at each other. This lodge is perfect. Rooms have a nice spacious open modern shower, big round sink and most importantly, a high quality new mattress. The bedding is cool and comfortable to to the touch. The staff are super chill and very personable. Down to earth vibes. The breakfast is great, fresh fruit, oatmeal, good coffee, alternative milks in glass jugs on ice, lemon or pumpkin loaf bread, tea, honey, cinnamon and best you can sit outside on a comfortable stool and watch the sea roll in and smell the saltwater or you can sit inside with a fireplace. With the dogs, we opted for the outside. The sound of the sea is so calming here. The boardwalk is right there framed by wild flowers and plants running wild along Moonstone Beach Drive. They have bikes with baskets for a 5 minute cycle into town. One end of town is generally foggy and cool and the other sunny and warm a difference of maybe 2 minutes by car between them. Incredible juxtaposition. The beach is just perfect here and a quick drive to take a long hike through the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, that was saved from development in 2000, is a must. Cambria Beach Lodge has a deck to enjoy and lookout to the coast with a large cushioned chaise and they play some good chill music on the deck. Overall it is a perfect place to stay if you visit Cambria.

I was only here for one night as we were passing by to follow the pacific coast highway. It's a really cute small town. The hotel though looks better online then I'm person. It definitely seems well worn in although it does have a great modern retro look to it. Staff was extremely nice and they give you a cute map of the area when checking in. The board walk and beach are right across the road. Be careful though some cars go pretty fast around the bend. The parking lot is one way in and our it's hard to turn around in there too. My biggest problem is the fact they don't have air conditioning. When I asked about it I was told "we are on the beach none of places have it, open the windows." Which was odd to me since I travel a lot and stayed at many beach places with air-conditioning. Perhaps if the windows faced the ocean a breeze would come in, but the room was stuffy and I know the layout can't change. While the did provide a tiny table top fan it's not enough to cool both sides of the room. There's also not that many places to charge your phones in the room. Also if you want to get some air in the room you need to sleep with the curtains wide open which really gave us the creeps while trying to sleep. It's like anyone can just stare in at us. All in all or was a lovely quick stay. I just don't know if I'd come back next time.

We stayed at the Cambria Beach Lodge during Spring Break for nearby lodging for our Hearst Castle tour. CBL is decorated so cute, the rooms, the lobby and outside of the lodge exceeded our expectations. The bodywash, lotions, shampoo and conditioner are full size bottles attached to the walls. They were really great..so there was no need to bring these items. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Breanne went above and beyond explaining all that was nearby...restaurants, downtown and sites to see. Not to mention it was literally 10 minutes from our tour of the Hearst Castle visitors center tram. Best of all was the high end complimentary breakfast..WOW!! Coffee, several teas with different milk options. Hard boiled eggs, orange juice, and a fantastic breakfast loaf from a bakery on the East side of main street..it was so delicious! The presentation was high end, clean and really cute!!! I can't say enough about Cambria Beach Lodge. Walking accessibility to several restaurants and the view is to die for. Also, they have cute bikes to ride..which my daughter and her friend did ride. If you are thinking of visiting Cambria I definitely would recommend Cambria Beach Lodge. Close to elephant seal Beach and again very close to the Hearst Castle. I would definitely consider staying here again🌊☀️
