The hotel was an okay place to stay. We were only in town for two nights so it seemed it's purpose. For the most part, the staff was polite (other than a couple of housekeepers that seemed annoyed when I passed them in the hallway and said hello. I did appreciate that every staff member I saw still wore masks. I noticed that none of the guests did but my boyfriend and I remained masked the entire time because we have not been vaccinated. We had a few problems with the room but did not bring them to the attention of the staff because we did not want to go through the hassle of switching rooms or hotels altogether and didn't want our credit card tied up at multiple hotels. The room was relatively clean but I noticed hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower as well as spills in the freezer that needed to be wiped up. Due to these few housekeeping oversights, my boyfriend and I questioned whether the room had been properly sanitized or not. So we took it upon ourselves to use Lysol wipes to disinfect the whole room. Another issue we had with the room is that we couldn't use the bathroom sink because the drain stopper wouldn't come up. Luckily it's an extended stay hotel so we were able to use the kitchen sink to wash our hands and brush our teeth. It was annoying but functional. The biggest issue we had with the room was the bed. The bed was not at all comfortable, it was extremely firm - like sleeping on a wooden plank. Each of the two nights that we stayed there, we endured back pain the next morning. Other than those few problems the room was acceptable. As for the amenities, we only utilized the pool and the breakfast. The pool area left something to be desired but it fulfilled it's purpose. The pool Is not heated but that's fine because it was over 100° while we were there. My problem with the pool is that it was dirty. There was debris floating around and the bottom and sides of the pool were discolored, rusted, and chipped. We spent most of the time just relaxing in the lounge chairs surrounding the pool. The breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay. It's rare to find a hot buffet breakfast in this Covid world so we were surprised and happy with the options presented to us here. Also the breakfast attendant was very friendly and helpful. Overall our stay was okay but definitely overpriced for what we got. If we went to Carlsbad again we would probably stay at...

Read moreThe positive: A newer very nicely decorated and fitted hotel. Very comfortable beds. Room had usb charge ports seemingly everywhere. Stayed in a 2 room suite. Kitchen well stocked with big fridge. Good roomy bathroom which had lots of soap, etc. Plenty of parking although so filled with big white company pick-up trucks that thought maybe this was a overflow lot for a dealership. Made for some tight parking spots. Good breakfast with variety of choices. Hot food items also changed day to day. Good breakfast coffee. Milk and cookies provided in the evening. Always available big jug of cool water to pour yourself a drink. The negative: The sofa bed in the 2 room suite is absolutely one of the worst cheapest most uncomfortable that we have ever encountered. Wouldn't want even a small child to sleep on it. My adult daughter ended up using the sofa cushions on the floor to sleep on. It was that bad. Also there wasn't any bedding provided for this sofa bed. Had to get it from front desk. Kitchen had trash can full from previous users. The shower head is really high up. Totally out of reach for my wife (5 ft 2 inches) but I could reach it (5 ft 8 inches). Biggest short coming is the seemingly lack of simple housekeeping. Arrived on a Saturday. Room not serviced on Sunday & Monday. Sunday had to call for toilet paper. Monday we were out all day long at Carlsbad Caverns (yup, well worth visiting) and returned to room just after 5 pm . Room had not been touched. Didn't even have a clean towel. Had to go down to lobby desk to complain about this one. Now the good part here is that the manager on duty actually called in people to service our room. But this took about a hour for them to arrive. In the meantime couldn't take a shower (badly needed after hard walk up and out of the caverns). Just wanted to get ready to go have dinner. The room had very thin windows. This let in lots of traffic noise (plenty of big trucks in this town) but also continually had noise of not only your own air conditioner but also the continual on and off of other rooms air conditioner units. I chose this TownePlace suite as it seemed newer. Wish I had chosen to stay elsewhere. Would not recommend this place. Would not...
