La Tienda — Local services in Carlsbad

Well this is usually a lovely store; tonight was very disappointing.

I carry a large bag around; it has amongst other things needed medical supplies and paraphernalia.

On this cold night I was bundled up they demanded I surrender the bag and leave it up front, and no they did not take it behind the desk.

I have up to now done a lot of business here without incidents or issues; in fact I have likely dropped over $200 there by now.

I let them know that as they were worried I would steal from them simply being bundled up having a large zipped tote, so I was concerned they would steal from me.

Let it be known if I am REQUIRED to surrender my personal property as a condition of shopping at your store the following will now apply:

IF anything is missing I will file a police report against that store.

Dependent on the value of the missing items that store can expect a small claims court case; hope your legal representation is current.

Of course I also don't want to shop here anymore either!!

I went in again to try to shop, same large bag carrying necessities medicines medical supplies. There was no incident in the store.

I had left the store I was outside the store in the parking lot out huffs Sarah the closing manager she is screaming at me wants me to open my bag.

I said no.

Sarah then banned me from the property said she warned me about having the bag (lies see the above account is what happened) and she BANNED ME threatened to call the cops as I would not allow her to illegally search and seize my property.

Sarah at no time (she got in my face MY NAME IS SARAH she sneered) actually accused me of committing a crime or said she witnessed misconduct.

The issue is she hates my bag and now claims she banned the bag, and as I won't give up my rights I can no longer shop there.

I am notifying a local news station about this latest development. She did not call the police although she threatened to. The police would not have had anything to do if she had.

Its got lots of Mexican foods and they have a large quantity of things you can't find in a lot of bigger stores has its oqn flour tortillas they make every day. Has a deil that has hot and clod foods on it. Place to sit and eat. Some of the employees are rude but the have some that are not. Most of the younger employees have better manners and know how to talk to the customers. The mangers dont care they are rude and are more worried about the cashier and employees stealing from them that the ppl that are. The old manger that actually know whats going on is the dept managers and the assistant lil spanish guy. Think name was Joe. The other two have no clue of anything.the store you have to look for food store is put up total work floors need redone. Build need to be remodeled badly its probably 60 yrs old and the fixure shelfing and freezer too. When rain there 5 gallon bucket caught water the drip through the roof. And manager put temporary fixes on everything he a big white guy. You cant miss if you can caught him out of the office long enough. Or him leaving for home he very lazy. But the younger employees make the store pleasure to shop they really try hard to make the customers happ for the lil...

If you go to the checkouts where their employees check out your groceries, those employees always seem nice. I don't recommend the self checkout unless you like some ride person standing over your shoulder watching everything you swipe. I've yet to have a good experience at the self checkout and make dam sure you only have the 15 items or less cause they will rudely turn you away if you have 16 small items regardless there is absolutely no one else checking out there or waiting in any line to check out. I was shopping for 2 different individuals with separate methods of pay so to separate and scan on my own would've been far simpler than it was having to stand there and try to point everything out on how to separate things when at checkout counter. Mr power trip at self checkout didn't even give me an opportunity to explain why I chose to try to do self checkout. If my clients didn't prefer certain items that only can be found at this store, I would never return. I try to support hometown stores but this one has gotten to where I hate...
