I hope this review serves only as a learning tool for the manager responsible for training/hiring staff at the bar/breakfast nook. during our stay Friday 11/26-11/28, my siblings and I made the long drive in from Nashville for a family event. after getting settled in we went down to the hotel bar in hopes to have a cocktail. We went down around 9:14pm on Friday night only to be told by the gentlemen behind the counter that he was closed. We were told it closed at 10pm, however he said it was due to being slow. He then said he could reopen and continued to complain that he was tired and would only be able to pour beer or possibly an open bottle of wine. We decided to let them man sleep and purchased a couple bottles at the lobby market and head up to the rooms to hang out. Round two: Since the gentlemen on Friday said he'd be working again Saturday we decided to make sure we got down on time before closing. I believe we arrived at 8:55pm... same scenario. This time we actually just asked him to reopen and make the drink since we got down so early. He didn't put up much of a fight. As we drank our cocktails he approached us maybe 15min later and said he was going to start his closing cleaning and said if we want another to flag him down. Passed by again and offered if we wanted one, I said, sure that would be great, and he then said oh man I just locked up the liquor cabinet, I can only do beer. I just passed and told him to enjoy his night, only to hear his life story on how tired he was from working 6 days straight. I can appreciate a hard worker and being tired, however as a paying guest/customer and ambassador member of Marriott, I felt this was poor customer service and below par for the Marriott brand, regardless of anyone's status. Sorry to sound petty, again I hope it's just a training tool whomever receives this message and hopefully he can continue being a...
Read moreUpon check in I was advised my room was downgraded from a King Suite to standard King. I was not notified of this prior to arrival. We didn't check in until that evening so prior to settling in, we left to get a bite to eat. Upon returning and entering our room, not 10 minutes went by before we started hearing a domestic altercation taking place in the adjoining room. No one answered at the front desk so my husband went downstairs to notify the front. The desk clerk and him returned upstairs so that the clerk could hear the what was happening and once next to our room door, the female left the room and grabbed my husband asking her to 'keep him away from me' referring to her assailant. My husband got away and came into our room and called the police. I believe someone else called before he did because once I noticed the noise stopped I went down stairs while my husband was still on the phone and saw the front clerk was already talking with an officer. To our knowledge, the assailant was required to leave but I was awoken early the next morning to the woman yelling at someone and eventually leaving. Aside from that, the shower clogged, the shower floor may not have been properly cleaned as it was extremely slippery and we were forced to lay a towel down to take showers. The sink design wasn't functional. The blankets were scarce and there were no pillows on the couch for comfort. For the kind of hotel this presents itself to be, I was shocked at what we encountered and needless to say we were not pleased with our stay and have no plans on returning to a...
Read moreBy court order, my daughter and I only get to see my grandchildren for six hours a month, and if we take them to our home, we live far enough away that we have to spend three of those hours in the car. I called several hotels in Carrollton, explaining the situation and telling them that I needed to rent a room from eleven in the morning till five at night to give us a place to open Christmas presents and have a little fun with the children before we lost them again for the rest of the month. I asked if they could guarantee early check-in. The other hotel managers just parroted policy: no guarantees before three o'clock.
But that changed when I talked to Jeri at the Carrollton Courtyard by Marriott. She treated me like family. She made sure we would be able to have the room by eleven, processed our check-in, and then recommended that we come prepared to enjoy the indoor heated pool. Thanks to her, we arrived with swimsuits and pool toys as well as the Christmas presents. The children LOVED the pool!
On our day of arrival, Jeri was there again to make sure that everything went well. She checked us in with a big smile and worked with me throughout the day to make the whole day special. She consulted on local restaurants, gave me detailed directions, and even dug through donated coupons to get us 15 percent off at a local ice cream parlor.
Thanks to Jeri and Courtyard, my poor divided family was able to make happy Christmas memories this year. She and the rest of the Courtyard staff really went above and beyond, and will stay in my heart and my...
