We’re from Huntsville and stayed at a nearby hotel last night. We wanted to try one of the mom and pop places in town for breakfast. Upon ordering, paying and tipping, we asked for the food to-go. We went and bought coffee at another mom and pop place and came back to pick up our order. Nobody told us prior that there are waitresses. No hostess stand and the couple who ordered after us was now eating at a table.
We picked our food up and realized it’ll be hard on our 3 hour drive for our toddler to eat her breakfast in the car so we sat at an outside table. Immediately, an employee or owner came running out saying we can’t sit there because that’s how waitresses earn their living. She said we can sit on the bench or one of two tables in her section (?). There was one table taken out of seven outside. All 15-20 were empty inside the main restaurant. It’s a Monday morning at 10:30am. I managed multiple locations and my family owned a restaurant. We tipped at the register and NOBODY indicated there are waitresses. I definitely think there was a much better way to handle the situation instead of making us move to a bench. Ironically, a few minutes later, employees came out and sat at the same table and ate. The same “waitresses” or cashiers we just tipped for to-go food.
I never assume things happen because we’re a lesbian couple but I literally can’t figure any other reason that you tell PAYING and TIPPING customers that they can’t sit in certain areas, especially when it’s EMPTY. Here is my 3 yr old eating on the bench wondering why we were kicked off the table but other people, including employees,...

Read moreI was in town for a doctor's appointment and was hungry. I searched for restaurants in the area and saw that this one had good reviews. I decided to check it out. It's right on the "square," in the middle of downtown Carrollton. It's a quaint little place with around 8-10 tables inside and a few outside.
I quickly looked over the menu and decided to get the Aberdeen sandwich, broccoli salad, pickle and blackberry cane sugar soda by Boylan's. All of it was really good. The sandwich had a great flavor combination that I thoroughly enjoyed. The broccoli salad was fresh and tasted just like my wife's, just like I like it.
I appreciate that they had something other than regular ole high fructose corn syrup soda. I rarely drink soda, but when I see one like this, I'll give it a try at times. It was good!
The price was about what you'd expect for the quality - $15 for everything. The service was quick, friendly and helpful. I'll be back when I'm in town again and will check out some of the other dishes they...
