The first room had bed bugs, but I was given a replacement after bringing it to the housekeepers attention because the man at the front desk was rude about it and said it wasn't the season for them and never offered to take a look or rectify the inconvenience and problems it causes me. I lost money because I had to leave contaminated items behind in the room which included clothing I needed. It's nice that it has a laundry room because that's an important thing to have especially at an extended stay accommodation like this, the problem is the washer and dryer are non-existent so you'll need to bring them with you to connect to the hook-ups in the laundry room if you're the type that doesn't like to wear the same dirty underwear and socks over and over. I really needed Wi-Fi so I could work on an important project so I was so happy they had it, but unfortunately it didn't reach the rooms in half the hotel so I left a $60 Linksys Wi-Fi extender as a gift when I departed. Personal belongings went missing from my room I barely ever left while I was there, although I did have errands to do right before departing and it was only after leaving that I realized they were gone. Many electrical outlets were not working which caused issues for me being able to charge my electronics. Someone also has wrongfully installed energy saving flood lamps in the bathrooms rather than the proper heat lamps which would reduce moisture during showers and prevent the mold that now has the perfect environment to grow. There is no such thing as an energy saving heat lamp, the whole point is to use the bulb which produces energy and heat in areas without ventilation such as these bathrooms which have no windows. The water also caused my skin to become extremely dry and break out into rashes. It was quiet and provided a...
Read moreHad to stay regrettful two nights here after abandoning a camping trip because of the smoke. Leaving emotions aside, I'll just list a few of the things I experienced while staying here. And yeah I know what to exect from a 2 star hotel:
Right off, dirty room, smudges, broken mirror, circular stain on the desk chair ( gross ), flies, sticky floor TV and telephone dont work, and even though it makes an ungodly amount of noise even enclosed in a cabinet, the refrigerator is busted or "barely working" as well. Inconsistant and insecure "public wi fi" shared with a couple fast food chains ONE ice machine for the entire facility thats been broken for over 4 days HEAVY traffic and skateboard noise from the park adjacent Witnessed multible drug deals by a guy apperently living out of his forest green aztec right ouside my room, yelling into his phone, clients coming by all day, subwoofers blasting up to around 10-11pm, and no i'm absolutey not stereotyping and yes I did report it to the hotel (not the cops) who did nothing even though its their property. Oh! my room would literally shake for 20min intermittently between the hours of about 2pm to 6pm. Sitting at the desk trying to work, it felt like was on top of an industrial size washing machine on the spin cycle I got mysterious "bug bites" on my ankles Trying to take a shower, pressure suddenly drops to nothing and extremely loud whining/gushing sound appeared to be coming from the gutter. Returned to normal after about an hour but what??
I could go on but I honestly I just want to check out and leave this place. I'm not trying to disparage the staff because they were relativey nice and tried to get me another room for the second night. This is just more of fair warning to anyone thinking of...
Read moreThere are many things to consider with lodging: advertised price vs actual price, room conditions, comfort, and cleanliness. In the case of America's Best Value Inn in Centralia Wa, they're a bit all over the place.
First, the price: $52.68 for two walk-in adults, one bed, for one night on a Saturday is a very good deal. But, you do get what you pay for in terms of location and quality of amenities.
While this area in Centralia is not necessarily a dangerous neighborhood, we did witness two drug deals and loud arguments. Other than that, the other guests were mostly friendly and the nearby park can be a good place to take kids. Off trails may contain trash and homeless people, though.
Second: the room was larger and cleaner than I expected at this price and location. The cleaning staff are very thorough, with only the sheets being questionable, but that is to be expected in most motels.
The room contained a small refrigerator, microwave, and flat screen tv. Everything worked, but the refrigerator was on its last legs and the shower system needs some love. Took about 3 minutes for the water to heat up and the pressure was pretty weak.
I don't blame the motel for Centralia's poor water quality, but it needs to be mentioned.
Overall, the staff were friendly and the front desk has a great sense of humor. As far as economical lodging goes: this place has the best value in the area, but the area could be risky. If you're on a budget and a little risk doesn't bother you, America's Best Value Inn is a...
