Very strange experience. On August 15, 2024 - While at the register, a Caucasian female cashier asks another co-worker to recount our cash payment. She then says "for all involved, it is best to have someone else (another Caucasian female) validate our cash payment". Which is even worse. After payment validation, we are quickly rushed off, we begin to question their motive and choice of words. Walked to the car, but decided to return about five minutes later to speak with a manager.

When we ask for the manager, the same Caucasian woman that validated payment shows up claiming to be the manager (which I seriously doubt). We mentioned that entire situation was extremely disrespectful and rude. We were respectful and did nothing to them. Wanted to understand why they acted like this? During the entire conversation, she performed a "Gray Rock method", lacked accountability, and even resorted to gaslighting. Answering obvious questions with other questions - mainly to deflect.

For example: Asked why the initial cashier needed someone else to validate our cash payment? She, the so called manager, said "the initial cashier is unsure if the cash amount is correct?" So, I asked "why didn't the initial cashier simply recount the money?" She gave another "Gray Rock" expression and then said "I am unsure if the initial cashier knows how to count money." Come on, if unsure that she can count money, why is she working at a register? That excuse is ridiculous.

For example: We stated, "you are the second woman that recounted/validated our cash payment." She replied "Was I actually the one that recounted the money?" Give me a break, we just interacted with you five minutes ago at the cash register! Talk about gaslighting. Yikes!

Frankly the issue isn't about validating money, but about race. For some reason, the initial cashier had a problem with an Asian woman (my wife) and Black man (me) purchasing something together. At this point, it is obvious discussing with her is waste of time, requested to speak with her boss. She goes in the back and 10 minutes later returns with a man (his name is T.J.). Asked if T.J. is their boss or their manager, he claimed so (which I seriously doubt again). T.J. then stated this is done because their cashiers are coming up short regarding cash payments. Fair enough, but what does that have to do with us and why were they so disrespectful? He replied with "yeah sorry, I probably shouldn't have told you that. I will discuss with staff".

Hopefully an actual manager will resolve their problems, so it doesn't happen to anyone else. This was unnecessary and racial...
