We both had chicken strip baskets with gravy and medium blizzards. We ordered using the app and picked up our food in the drive-through. We ordered extra gravy like we always do because the one small cup of gravy is never enough for the amount of food that comes in the large chicken basket.
When we pulled up to the drive-through, we were handed our chicken baskets first and then the gravy. 3 small cups of gravy each. The drive-through worker handed my wife the gravy and, in a snarky, sarcastic tone, said, "Enjoy your gravy."
We both felt ill a few hours later and most of the next day. I'm not implying they did something to the gravy. The place looks kind of dirty, and it is more likely an issue with food storage and handling.
The snarky comment felt more like they didn't like filling up extra cups of gravy even though they charged $0.70 each and limited us to two extra cups per meal in the app.
If these large chain fast food restaurants paid their employees what they are worth, which is a lot more than minimum wage, the employees would be happier and put more effort into and take more pride in their work. Even franchise owners who are exploited by these corporations with high franchise fees can afford to pay their employees more than they do.
I don't blame the employees. They work very stressful, thankless jobs, often more than one, are often mistreated, just so they can live in poverty. I wouldn't be able to maintain my composure 100% of the time, either.
We paid the same here as we did at a nearby sit-down restaurant that delivered exceptional service and food. We had leftovers to enjoy later and felt comfortable throughout the entire experience.
We usually enjoy DQ chicken strip baskets. It's the only non dessert food that DQ offers that, imo, is any good, but I can not recommend this location based on the experience we had.
We didn't eat inside, so I can't comment on whether or not this location is...
Read moreDecided to go on a special mommy and son date and he picked DQ, so we stopped in and ordered our $5 meals, and the cashier asked if we want the sundaes now or later, we say later. I stand at the counter and wait for our food for at least 15mins finally get my tray and my son, and I got outside to eat. After about 20mins when we are finished I come back inside with my receipt and let them know we are ready for our sundaes. Two of the workers stand behind the counter in front of the ENTIRE crowded restaurant and say in front of everyone that I had already gotten our desserts and the one girl specifically remembers delivering them to me - and points at me! I am beyond humiliated at this point, and I tell her how awful that is to accuse me of stealing in front of everyone. I also point out that not a single employee had stepped outside in the entire time my son and I had been out there, and she's welcome to check my lunch garbage AND check the video feed from the camera's stationed outside. I ask for the manager (JENNY) who comes out and just as condescending as the other two employees tell me "well, I have to trust my employee's." At this point, I am shaking and ready to cry, so I tell her I just want a refund so we can leave - she REFUSED. Then she says "well we can make them for you THIS TIME" like she's doing me a favor. Trust me; there will NEVER be a next time! I have never been so embarrassed and humiliated in my ENTIRE life. That was all the money I had, and what was supposed to be a beautiful day with my son was entirely ruined. My son I both left for home in tears, and the desserts got thrown away because neither one of us could stomach anything after our ordeal. This happened at the Dairy Queen located at 701 Harrison Ave,...
Read moreIts like a like it or dislike it kinda demeanor. Sometimes I really like the service. Sometimes I cant stand it. Throughout the week its pretty good. However on the weekends it kinda annoying. There have been times where I have been waiting longer wait times in the drive through because the teenage high school girls that are working that area are gossiping with each other laughing while all the other people in the front/grill area are running back and forward. Another thing thats upsetting is that Diary Queen is starting to hand out blizzards without lids and if you are the only person in the car they wont give you a carrier. At the intercom I request lids and a carrier and when I get to the window I have to let the person know again that I need lids and a carrier. Some are cool and say of course while others get mad like you are requesting an unrealistic request. I still go from time to time. Apart from those things its not a bad place. But its far...
