I have never had a worse dining experience in my entire life. I placed an online order for pick up and instead of being able to walk in, pay for my order and leave, I was verbally harassed by one of the male employees who was trying to antagonize a fight with me because I ignored him and his friends. Let me also take this second to say I was born with birth defects in both of my arms, and from a person with a disability I was humiliated from the moment I entered the door. Being on a date and being late I wanted the food I ordered. I could have easily left but felt I would have been assaulted if I did. I will never return and will be glad to tell everyone I know to avoid this place.
-A tip to the owners;
Not only should you provide better customer service training to your staff, you should also consider helping your employees with their low self esteem and lack of care for their well-being. I am not a violent person but the world today is full of them and you should have more respect for people and how you approach them. There is no reason for someone to end up losing everything over a bruised ego. I would like to wish your restaurant the very best of luck but feel a few changes...
Read moreI wavered between 3 and 4 stars, so in the interest of the college theme, I will round up and give them a 4 WITH a disclaimer. This place is what it is: a bar for college kids to get plastered before stumbling back to campus, or the last stop after a bar crawl to try and soak up the booze before calling it a night. On Saturdays, it may also be a place to go watch the Cavaliers get beat up on by Virginia Tech and/or Florida St. In either of those cases, you probably are not TASTING your food, so billing yourself a “gourmet burger bar” is a bit pretentious. This place is a dive bar, through and through, and they should enbrace that. Being a dive bar is NOT a bad thing. The food is priced right, of slightly above-average quality, and (on the Saturday night that I went) the service was friendly, energetic, and attentive. A mad dash of coeds rush from table to booth, and even through the face coverings, you can tell it is done with a smile. Only other note here is that the beers on tap are lacking (there were only three when I went). However, that may be...
Read moreLike others have said, in the restaurant there's some variance in the quality of service, but during busy times I've found it to be quite good. Large selection of beers paired with a few different appetizer options and TVs everywhere make this a good place to hang out and catch part of a game.
The burgers were also pretty good, they were juicy and topped well, with nicely cooked fries as a side. The wahoo drink was too sweet and definitely overpriced, but it's fine to order once as a UVA ritual.
As a bar, this is one of my favorite places in Charlottesville. The music choice is always good, and it's packed with people ready to party. Upstairs dance floor is nicer than trin's and there's a bit of lighting so you can actually see where you're walking, a plus because it's difficult enough walking through dense crowds when you're sober. Bartenders are super nice, and make drinks efficiently. Never took more than 5-10 minutes to get a round on a...
