Our stay at the farifield Inn was one that had a bump or two but was ultimately rectified by the quality staff. We arrived for a 7 day stay here on our honeymoon. The front desk lady gave us a free upgrade from the basic room we reserved to a suite on the 4th floor with a mountain view which was wonderful to wake up to. Upon entering the room we were hit with an odd smell... we assumed it was just an older room and proceeded to unpack and get ready for bed. After staying there for a couple of days we noticed the smell wasn't getting any better, being especially noticeable when entering from the hall or even the bathroom. On my way down to breakfast one morning I noticed there was a room open for cleaning by house keeping and decided to quickly step in to take a whiff. The room smelled much cleaner! We ended up saying something to Jonae and Shannon at the front desk who were incredibly accommodating with us after we had informed them of what we found out. They offered to move us to another room on the same floor which smelled much better, felt much cleaner and apologized for the issues we had encountered. This alone helped save our stay at this hotel and we are extremely grateful to them both for taking prompt action and upholding excellent customer service when encountering a less than ideal scenario like this. We also want to mention that this hotel has a fantastic breakfast with plenty of hot food options(rotated each day so theres something different ), as well as a cereal bar with oatmeal, traditional cereal and plenty of things to add into it. Audrey who ran the breakfast area was fantastic as well and always made us feel welcome and like we were at home. All three of these ladies went above and beyond to make our time here memorable and fantastic, offering recommendations on things to see and do as well as providing quality service.
The only issues we had that could not necessarily be rectified by good customer service are as follows: My wife even after the room change over and a swap to foam pillows still experienced allergenic symptoms throughout the night, we are not sure if this is due to air filtration issues with the in room a/c units or due to carpet cleaning solutions utilized by housekeeping as her symptoms cleared up while outside of the hotel room specificallt, so we are suspect that something in the room caused it. The clean towels provided occasionally had some permanent stains found on them which ideally should be caught and retired out by housekeeping, we basically just asked for additional towels to circumvent this issue when it came up.
Overall, great service...
Read moreWe checked in on Friday 3/19/21. We had planned 3 day stay for my sons baseball tournament with our baseball team. After we got up to the room and unpacked I noticed there was a small blood stain on the covers. I called the front desk and the lady asked if I wanted a new comforter or the whole bed changed, I said I wanted the bed changed. As soon as hung up I turned and the other bed had dried macaroni and cheese on it. At that point I could clearly tell that room had not been cleaned and I called back and asked for a room change. As I was packing up all my family's belongings my 10 year old pointed out a pill that was on the air conditioner. I remained very polite as I understand it was a very busy weekend and our room must have just gotten missed. I showed the lady the pill when she dropped off our new room keys and we went on our way. Nothing was offered as compensation and I did not expect anything. I was happy with the room change. We got to our new room and I put my 4 year old's milk in the fridge and noticed it wasn't on. I turned in on and down hoping it would cool down and start working. We went and swam and came back to the room about 3 hours later and still.....no working fridge. I Called and asked if someone could come up and make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. The very sweet front desk worker came up and apologized and said I could store anything I needed in their fridge down stairs since they didn't have anyone on site to come fix ours. She said they would give a discount for the room for the inconvenience. I said that would be fine considering we had already had to switch room once. When I checked out on Sunday I asked the young man working the front desk to make sure our room was discounted. He looked over the acct, printed the receipt and said yes they have taken 20$ off. As I walked away I looked over the Receipt and nothing had been taking off. I was charged the full amount and I was just lied to. He knew good and well nothing had been taking off and he thought I wouldn't even notice. I went back up there and asked him to show me where anything was taking off. He called the manager to find out what to do. He should have done that before he decided to lie to me and not think I wasn't going to check my charges. I'm still waiting for charges to be adjusted on my bank account as the full amount in still in process. The guest services have plenty of room for improvement to say the least. We stay in Hotels and travel at least once a month due to sports and we will never...
Read moreMy son and I were only in town for one night for a seminar, otherwise , we would have switched hotels. We are Marriott Bonvoy elite members, and we are used to Marriott standards that this hotel did not meet. I had a constant headache because of the overwhelming smell of carpet fresh. Carpet fresh does not smell clean. It smells like you’re trying to cover up unpleasant odors and it was WAY too much. Aside from the smell, the rooms did seem old but clean. It was just very difficult to get past the smell. The hotel and the guestrooms are extremely dated. Online pics do not do justice. I felt like we were walking into a motel room from decades ago. It definitely had more of a motel vibe than hotel. The breakfast lady was very welcoming and there were hot selections Instead of just a cold continental. It was a Sunday morning, so one of their big breakfast days, but they offered scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, and waffles. They also had oatmeal, cold cereal, and toast so definitely plenty to choose from. The staff was friendly enough, other than the breakfast lady nobody really went out of their way to even greet us but I am ok with that. Main thing is if I wanted to stay somewhere that felt like a motel, I would have that strong perfume smell of carpet fresh was even in the elevators. If you have allergies, I do not recommend staying here. If you want an old yet clean place to put your head for the night this may be a good spot for you. The street was often blocked by trucks going to a gas station next to the hotel So you do need to be careful, pulling in and out. You have to go onto the oncoming traffic lane to turn into the hotel parking lot because the trucks just stop In the right hand lane. That wasn’t a huge deal for us, but for some it may be.. One last thing is one of the two elevators was out of order so everyone shared one elevator which lead to...
