Forewarning I rarely leave reviews and when I do they’re almost always positive … For the record if you book an air b&b here just know that it is managed by the building and not private. It’s managed by level. There is ZERO personal touch and it’s not even hotel quality. It’s so bad.
The management of this building is extremely poor. I have a long list of reasons and prob forgetting some. However they never knew what was going on. They always had to defer to someone else and wouldn’t assist with anything. You could never get them in person I had to wait for them to email me.
A list of just a few of our issues…Not clean honestly filthy, multiple damaged items and areas of unit that’s advertised as luxury, fobs/ keys never worked, missing lights/light bulb and crumbling ceiling/ drywall with hole, no supplies, horrible managers, damaged our car and wouldn’t pay for it or even give me a call, the rates were so high it was ridiculous.
We weren’t given a garage transponder for two months of being there and had to call over and over again for the front desk to open the garages because that’s what the instructions were. Then we finally got transponders because I complained to air b&b (who we booked through even though this is managed by the building) and only THEN would they give us transponders. Then they hardly ever worked.
Elevators run on WiFi (WHAT?!) and THREE different times when we were there the WiFi / electric completely went out and we were on 30th floor and couldn’t get up or down. Our dog couldn’t use the bathroom for HOURS. Oh and how could I forget the fire alarm going off minimum once a week for no reason. Our dog was so chill and normal prior to this stay, she was recently sent home from daycare because she’s so afraid of any noise now that they can’t shelter her from everything. It’s from this place.
Maids threw away my silk pillowcases (they did reimburse me after a week of looking for them because I complained 3 times on air b&b about it) and also wouldn’t clean majority of time unless we called and asked and could only schedule a week out and on a Monday morning when I’m trying to work from home.
The oven didn’t work and we had to have engineers come twice to fix it. The stove was horrible only one burner worked. They gave no warning for window washing and window washers first off scared the living cr** out of my dog but also saw me undressed. Such a major invasion of privacy. Our dog also hurt her foot BADLY on a loose SLIDING FLOORBOARD (fake wood floor). It got pinched in between the wood that shouldn’t have moved and management didn’t care even though I pointed this out right after we moved in as being an issue.
As for the cleanliness, i can’t even explain how dirty it was when we got there but there was literal human excretions on the only couch (only lounge seating option ) and the building didn’t care and wouldn’t comp me. So much mold in the washer and in the coffee maker omg it was disgusting. It was also so so dusty that we had to go to our house (we live in Chicago but had been having work done on our house) to get cleaning supplies because they wouldn’t give us any and said it’d be a week before housekeeping came. No dish towels, minimal dish soap , no laundry detergent, only two glasses.
The heater or a/c (not sure) in the bedroom made this horrible clicking noise every minute or so and would wake me up all night long.
This place was advertised as a long time stay on air b&b. We would’ve moved somewhere else had we found any option that would’ve worked with our situation but didn’t. This was HORRIBLE. And I paid an extreme amount of money for it. And let’s not forget they shut the garage on our brand new car and wouldn’t take responsibility and wouldn’t give me video footage. I was so tired of dealing with them that I just stopped communicating about it because they made me so upset with everything else. I’m forgetting a lot, but this experience was horrific.
It would be one thing if this place was reasonable in price but I paid 3k if not more per week...
Read moreI was emailed a few hours ahead of my stay that the room I reserved months ahead of time has become unavailable. We accepted the offer to switch locations for a similar room. Boy, talk about a hurried, last-minute decision which would come back to bite me! Around 10:00 PM, we realized that the room did not have a pullout couch. We were relocated again. I realized that I was missing a pair of my shoes, left behind in a closet of room 3103 due the hurried nature of moving our items. I asked to be let back in to check for my shoes before we left, but the woman was so flustered that she never had a chance to call to maintenance before I made it to the desk to check out. I gave her my contact info and she said that she would call me. I never got that call, or her name, but I do know that she was leaving for Puerto Rico the next day. I emailed my contact person, Bronte Oliver, who replied twice, once saying that there were no shoes recovered, offering to look again if I wanted to describe them in further detail. I sent a picture and description, waiting a week with no response. When I followed up, I was met with a response of “there must have been a miscommunication, as I said we did not recover any gym shoes”. I felt so dismissed and belittled when reading this. Not only did I get the sinking feeling that I would never recover my property, but the way that they were referred to as “gym shoes” made me realize that it was never important to him and that he figured they were disposable, at best. This was not the only issue we encountered while staying at Level, just the most concerning. From what was described as a luxury boutique- like stay, the experience begs to differ. Not only did many of the “flat style” elevator card readers have issues, but the fact that the actual residents were more helpful/informative than guest services started the initial check in met with frustration. When we came from the garage to the hotel, each time we had to take the stairs to the lobby level in order to get on the elevator, because the garage reader didn’t accept our issued cards. We asked for replacements, but were told that if they worked for the room entrance, then there should be no problem with the garage elevator. We discovered that the bedroom window wouldn’t open and the cable service wouldn’t pull up on the bedroom tv. We called for help and they sent a maintenance man with about 5 remotes in his hand. He couldn’t understand what we were trying to describe as the issue, so he had me speak into a translator on his phone. He and I went to the front desk together, where I tried to explain to the attendant what was happening, noting that maintenance couldn’t really decipher my request. She responded “he understands you - he be acting like he don’t, but he do”. At that point, I just went to the room and went to bed. The shower also offered little to no water pressure unless it was giving out cold water. We dealt with it, but for what we paid for a luxurious experience, we shouldn’t have had to. Lastly, there were a handful of times that we couldn’t use our garage parking space because no one answered the phone when we called in. We expected to see a long line upon entering, but it was just personal conversations going on that couldn’t be interrupted. Hence, how I heard about Puerto Rico trips and boyfriend woes. The sixth floor was awesome. Unfortunately, this will likely be our first and last experience with Level. We visit Chicago quarterly and are always looking for a new place to fall in love with. In our service-based careers, my husband & I strive to provide not only the top notch level of customer service, but to make each person we encounter feel important, heard and cared for. This is not what I encountered with Level River North and have been left feeling uneasy, uncared for and dismissed since checking in. I personally asked Bronte twice for a name/contact person at the location which I could call and speak to personally. Both requests...
Read moreThis location was booked to accommodate 6 women on a birthday trip from 3/17/23 - 3/20/23. Two 2 bedroom suites were booked. We were assigned rooms 807 and 907. Four people of the group arrived the evening of 3/17 and checked into room 807. Immediately exiting off the elevator it is OBVIOUS someone is having a party because the music is very loud and the hallway is LOUD (marijuana loud!). Room 808 was having a grand time and did all night long as we share a wall, we were forced to party with them. We had a reservation at 9pm that we missed because the apartment we checked into had some immediate housekeeping concerns. There was old dried blood on the side of the toilet, the toilet paper holder was hanging off and there was no toilet paper or trash can in the second bathroom. There was a missing/exposed fixture in the shower and no vents in either bathroom. I tried to call the front desk but the phone in the room didn't work. I went to the front desk lobby and the young man offered a junior suite, which we declined after viewing the room and seeing the size difference. He offered to come clean both bathrooms himself since there was no housekeeping at that hour and I accepted that as a temporary solution. We left to find something to eat and he attempted to rectify the problems and even left a note, but when we returned, the blood was still there. My sister cleaned it herself with clorox wipes. On 3/18 the other 2 women arrived and were checked into room 907. They were missing trash cans in both bathrooms and later had to switch rooms because the heat didn't work. Also on 3/18 housekeeping had called on my sister's cell phone (bc the room phone didn't work) and impatiently wanted to know when they could come clean the room. When leaving for the day the front desk is apologetic for the experience thus far and the information has been passed along to someone in management named Jermaine. On the night of 3/19 all 6 of us gather in the living room space of room 807. The TV and lamp in the living room space do not work. And the couch has a very noticeable vagina print stain. The previous person in that room left a note on the hotel notepad about the TV not working. There was a scary white baby doll in the drawer of the table. At checkout on 3/20 there was another conversation had with the front desk about this experience and the young men had several opinions, including comping our stay, but reinforced that Jermaine would be in contact after his meetings that day. My sister called back for Jermaine twice and each time he was in a meeting. 8 days later, we are still waiting to hear ANYTHING...
