As a former teacher, Iâve been to hundreds of places that host large amounts of children and families and Iâve never seen such disorganization from the moment we walked in the door.
First itâs a cluster to check in, no ropes or organization or defined line, with about 30 people waiting in this small space that is an entrance and exit area. Then you are told to go chase down one of the workers who is wandering all over this larger room that serves as a gift shop and waiting area, while also serving people that are trying to enter and exit. Why they donât hand it out at check in is just one of the many things that doesnât make sense. It was packed solid with kids and adults moving in every direction and others just waiting for a group number and their group to be called. We waited over 20 minutes just to get a number for a group, then continued to wait another 20 minutes. Once your group is called, you are put in a room to watch a 5 minute video with others on ârulesâ and then you enter the museum.
The museum itself is underwhelming for the cost. Thereâs a large number of slime stations, which you really just run your hands through and play with it in the large holder. Thereâs the slingshot and the obstacle course, which is most appropriate for young kids. And thatâs about all.
The organization and direction is extremely lacking. It doesnât appear they worked with anyone on really understanding how to optimize the customer experience and given the high cost I expect a much better experience. Thereâs not many places to sit. The smells are overwhelming, like walking through the perfume counters in a department store. Thereâs no hand wash station at the end, wipes are not enough, so you have to go to an overpacked restroom thatâs right off the high traffic congestion area. Iâm actually shocked they pass fire code with the amount of congestion and people in the front area. It does not feel safe at all. The concept is great, but itâs not an experience I would take the kids to again between the cost and the craziness of the experience. We were so underwhelmed at the activities and overwhelmed by the smells and chaos we left in less than an hour. Just look at these people, does anyone look like theyâre enjoying themselves of excited about...
Read moreDonât waste a visit to the tour part. Iâve been on a variety of tours in my life. This falls at the absolute bottom â even lower than the self-guided chocolate tour at a chocolate cafe I went to one time expecting something quite different.
I would think that if your trained tour guide isnât there, maybe you wouldnât still take peopleâs money to get a tour by someone who clearly had no idea what he was doing. Iâm not making this up â it was confirmed to me afterwards by a staff member who said the good tour guide was out today. I donât blame the guy who gave us the tour. This is just bad management and ownership.
He took us to the back and showed us a slime bin like there are throughout the normal part of the museum. Then he talked about the main ingredients of slime. Then he showed us some clay figures and explained they could be mixed in or you could let them dry. Then he made us some snow.
That was the tour. It lasted 5 minutes. For this, my husband paid $45 as my Motherâs Day experience. The Tour Guide stared at us and asked if we had questions.
I asked when the tour was going to start. I was not trying to be rude or snarky. I was actually wondering. He explained that was the tour â we got to see behind the scenes and find out what they use to make slime. I asked if we could at least see where it was made. He said âOh yeah. Over there. In those mixersâŚâ He stared a moment longer. âAny questions?â
I was reasonably exasperated at this point. I realized I better come up with some good questions or it would be a really big waste of time.
I tried asking about the team who makes the slime and how they store it. His answers were pretty empty. âWe have six people who help make slime⌠Itâs organized on those shelves over there.â He gave gave a few details about how long it takes to mix the slime when I asked.
It just feels like everything these days is about not good business but squeezing people as much as possible. I didnât expect that from your museum because it seems like a place designed literally for the love of all things slime. So Iâm guessing this was an oversight and unintentional. I hope in brining it to your attention you can make this better for the next family that...

It was so fun to learn Sloomoo's story and get my own slime name.
I appreciated the ownership of getting to place a piece of slime wherever we liked on a psychedelic wall of slime, that reminded me of Fraggle Rock.
I am very impressed by the rainbow of interactive stations which inventively engage all of the senses, from Lake Sloomoo, where you can take off your socks and shoes to the ASMR area (I found very stimulating and comforting) and scintillating smells and so much more thorough enchantment, including a cave with glow-in-the-dark tools.
I was greeted by Manager Jake; felt very welcome. All of the employees were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. Kooooth graciously showed me how to make bubbles and spaghetti with slime and brought massive joy to many at the Sling, Sling, Sling/slingshot station! He goes all out to make everyone smile with his endless energy and enthusiasm; he is devoted to giving the best customer service to all, according to their wishes.
And I loved getting to make my own slime by choosing its fragrance, color and three charms (from quite an array). I especially recommend the smell of sunshine and the color of golden sparkle. A dazzling assortment of textures and styles of slimes; I immersed myself in the collection with glee!!!!
Also, I watched many having a blast getting slimed!!!
I enjoyed the humor throughout the exhibit, such as the display of cute Sloomoo pants with a slime smiley face on the seat and a sign that said PLEASE DO NOT SIT IN THE SLIME!
I love the saying on the wall at the end: "You don't grow too old to play, you grow old when you stop playing." Truly.
I was so excited to find a heart-shaped box of slime truffles in the gift shoppe! And smaller containers so I could bring my personally designed slime on the plane/get through TSA!!!
Impressive, creative medley of slimes available for purchase! I was delighted there was even a Chicago Dog variety of slime!
So happy to bring home slime and lots of new slime knowledge back to my students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and other special needs as well as my nieces and nephews.
