BEWARE we were charged $450 for room damage we did not do!
My husband and I stayed in room 1301 for our 5 year anniversary. Overall we had an amazing experience and loved this hotel. It has a beautiful lobby and the room was the perfect view of downtown river walk and well cleaned. The breakfast was fantastic and all the staff were kind and helpful. On our way home from our trip after 1 night, we even raved about the hotel to our family and recommended it to them for their upcoming visit down the road. I would even stay there next time we come. We were overall just impressed by location, prices, breakfast quality, and helpful staff.
The part that really put me off though was the $450 charge to our card and missed call from management the next day. When I called the front desk and told them we were overcharged, my jaw literally dropped and I feel like I went into panic mode when she told me we were charged because somebody had punched a hole in the TV!?? I was so confused, we literally didn’t even touch the TV or use the TV..I didn’t even notice the TV. We barely were even in the room the entire time because we were so busy touring the city, and I mean it’s our anniversary, who’s gonna be watching tv that night lol 😉. Anyways. I called the front desk today and she said we would need to wait until Tommorow morning to talk to management about the claim they are making about us ruining the TV. Like what do I even do? Will they show me a picture? Was I supposed to inspect the room before I stayed in case the last people before us were the ones who smashed the TV, was the maid service having a bad day? Like how do you even prove it wasn’t you when you didn’t even think about looking at the TV and taking pictures to prove everything in the room was fine?
I just hope they can make everything right because I hate that feeling of being falsely accused of something I would never do, or even knew about, especially when that much money is involved…if they can make it right….I would still consider staying there again on our next visit, especially because we had a great time there, if not…bye bye anything Hilton ever again in my life…I’m literally shook and so disappointed over this whole thing. My anxiety is through the roof right now!
Update…after multiple phone calls with the manager, today, I was able to get my money refunded for the damage they claimed was done. I was not willing to wait for them to investigate previous customers who did the damage and could potentially lie about it and put the blame on us.I had no photo proof of the TV damage from them and for all I knew it could have been fraud. I have had the most stressful experience trying to figure this whole thing out, I will probably never stay there again because this whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth which is sad because I actually had a great stay and liked the hotel. I would still recommend the hotel though in spite of everything that happened. I am so grateful the manager was able to refund us and I hope there is a better way to go about a situation like this in the future. He did end up sending us photo proof too or the tv crack, the only way we could have known it was Brocken though was if we had turned the TV on though (which we did not). What I have learned though is always take pictures of your room and test the TV before settling in to avoid charges for damage a prior visitor could...
Read moreOur party of six arrived late on a Wednesday night and the check-in was fast and uneventful. We had three separate rooms, and all were paid for with hotel points. I am not positive that the points used were comparable to this hotel, and their rooms. I feel like the points were overpaid.
This is what I observed upon getting off the elevator on the seventh floor. Carpet in hallway had not been vacuumed, especially in front of the doors to our rooms, our room had trash in front of the doorway, and it was obvious that these floors and hallways had not been vacuumed for some time.
Entered the room and found the following: one-third of a roll of toilet tissue and no extras. No soap anywhere to be found. The water ran very slowly from the sink and extremely hard to convert from hot to cold water. The faucet was placed at an offset to the left of the sink, which was very awkward.
Cooling system inside rooms were hard to regulate. If it were too cold, thermostat could not be raised pass seventy-four, nor lowered pass 72 (which we did not want). In the middle of the night, the unit would stop cooling completely.
The next morning, being sure that the hallway would be vacuumed along with the areas in front of the three doorways, as the cleaning service was on our floor and a vacuum cleaner was sitting in front of our door. When we returned in the afternoon, nope, trash was still there.
In the afternoon, upon my return. I went to the front desk and told them the situation about the soap and toilet paper and the desk clerk went and retrieved both items and gave them to me, for all six rooms. I also mentioned the trash in front of the rooms and stated that it needed to be vacuumed and he said it would be taken care of, the next morning and that did not happen. In fact, it never happened. When we checked out on Monday, the doorways were still dirty and so was the hallway.
This location is very noisy, during the night and early in the morning. It sounds like garbage trucks picking up early morning, dumping and banging receptables. Very noisy pipes from adjacent rooms, using the showers.
I also observed the cleanliness of the hotel entrance, sitting area and breakfast serving area. Floors are filthy and never mopped and polished. Entrance doors/revolving doors (glass) are filthy and never cleaned. Elevators are dirty and unkempt. I never saw anyone working behind the bar, if you wanted a drink, you could not get one.
The only positive about staying here, is that it is centrally located within walking distance to sightseeing areas.
As for the breakfast, it is simply basic food and nothing special. Most of it must be prepared by the guest.
Do not stay here, you can find a better hotel in...
