Hotel Diamond is a gem! This is a beautiful hotel in an older classic style. There is a small but pleasant lobby. Downstairs also contains a small but tastefully done full bar. Also downstairs is a restaurant but we did not try the restaurant. The rooms are all upstairs accessed by a lovely staircase (or elevator if you prefer). The hallways are nicely done. We were in a single queen bed room #217. The room was quiet and I note this because some type of school graduation was going on and there were many guests in the hotel. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed with nice soaps and shampoo. The chair provided in the room looked comfortable but it looked better than it felt to sit in. There is a small table. There is a refrigerator with a charge for soft drinks or sodas. We liked the room except that the window in room #217 was immediately adjacent to a well lit emergency exit staircase and it was impossible to get the room dark with the window covering provided. There was no view from the room we were in. There was basic coffee provided in the lobby in the morning but a well known coffee chain is a close block away if you want serious caffeine. The hotel location is very convenient and parking was provided (free on the weekend). We loved this hotel and we would return the next time we visit Chico, just maybe not get room #217 (the room would be fine with a window covering that blocked out the light from the...
Read moreA fantastic place to stay, close to everything. But... My daughter's wedding had the snag of our credit card getting fraudulent charges made by one of the staff at this hotel. The manager did not seem at all concerned. We activated a card we were saving just for the wedding, booked the rooms, stashed the card. The day before the wedding, when the computer woke up to send us a confirmation list of our reserved rooms, the credit card company called to ask if we had made a purchase from an escort service and a glass company. Sounds like someone bought a bong and had them selves a good time hoping that the charges would just fall through the cracks. Problem is that this was the first and only place we ever used this card. Someone should have been fired. There are laws, security of credit card theft is useless when personnel handling your card can't be trusted. It was a hassle for us with every guest arriving being asked for their credit card because we immediately notified the card company to fraud our card out. Just a terrible blemish on an otherwise very nice hotel. Management should have reacted and let us know what they did or that they would at least do something, but... they did not. The individual is probably still working there. Watch your card's account if you use it here, especially if for a wedding or something where numerous charges...
Read moreThe hotel itself is lovely. We stayed there two nights for my high school reunion July 17-18. There was a treat in the room the day we checked in, and mints on the bed the next day after the room was cleaned. The staff was competent and attentive. Parking is conveniently located in several marked spots in the parking structure next door. Unfortunately, there seems to be a security problem in that parking structure. At 2:30 am Sunday morning, we received a call from the hotel staff notifying us that our car had been burglarized. Indeed, a bicycler had smashed in a rear passenger window in order to steal my lunch bag which must have looked like a purse to the thief. The Chico police actually came upon this as it occurred which tells me (along with some other reviews) that this is a frequent occurrence. The staff assisted us in trying to locate an auto glass company that could help us on Sunday, but none were available, so we had to drive over 150 miles home without a rear side window. No offer was made to discount our stay or provide any complementary services in the future, which I think would have been appropriate. Nor was there any advance warning of ongoing security problems in the parking lot, which would have been helpful. I would not stay there again without some effort from the management to...
