Arrived at hotel around 8:30 pm. Dropped off my husband’s cpap machine and overnight bag to the room. We left to eat dinner at Agave’s & returned around 10:45 pm. We tried to enter by the road that we entered when we originally arrived at the hotel. That road was closed because of flooding! Had to pass the hotel and circle around to a higher level of the parking lot. There were 3 trucks with rescue boats with the big fans on the back parked to block different areas in the parking lot including directly in the pull through in front of entrance. Expressed our concerns to front desk but were told there shouldn’t be a problem until maybe 3 pm on May 3rd. We were informed that they were only calling guests to move their cars to the higher part of parking lot because of the water starting to rise on the lower part of the parking lot! We asked to please call us if water started to come closer to where we parked. We went to our room but looked out the window to see the water still creeping closer. My husband moved our car to the street in front of 18 wheelers. He returned to the room but just minutes later I was so worried that we went downstairs to a completely covered parking lot. After a few minutes outside talking to different people about the situation. A man said that snakes and alligators can get in the flooding water. He said that 1 man had already had to be refused from a tree because of an alligator. This really made me worried about the rising water. The lady from the front desk came out & said that she just got an evacuation phone call. People would need to go to the Baptist church for shelter. We were told that 59 was closed both directions and also 105. We were trapped in Cleveland. We had to walk up the hill in over ankle deep high water. I could not have made it without the help of a very nice employee, Jonathan! He took off his shoes & socks and helped me through all the water to my car. We stepped in a fire ant bed next to my car. My husband & I got numerous ant bites that festered up & are now scars but at least now they don’t itch so badly. I hope that since Jonathan is so much younger than us that his bites were not so painful. Since we did not get to spend the night, I felt like we should have been reimbursed at least part of our money but the hotel manager was very uncaring and REFUSED!!! We have stayed at that hotel many times but...
Read moreHotel is adequate. Rooms are clean and comfortable for the most part. I would suggest bringing your own pillow as the bed pillows are very small (look like toss pillows) and hard. I made it to the breakfast room well before 9am and there was a good selection of breakfast items to choose from. Waffles, yogurt, muffins and fruit. There was a serving tray for eggs and bacon but it was gone however it was restocked eventually. There is a very small pool in the front of the building that I did not use however several other guests were in it each time I left the hotel. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful however the same can't be said about the front desk staff. When I arrived at the hotel the front desk clerk was MIA for quite some time. Besides myself there were two other guests waiting at the front desk for help. One guest finally got tired of waiting and left and the other guest the housekeeping staff was able to help. I however had to wait to be checked in. The housekeeping staff was on the phone trying to find the MIA employee. The looked all over the property for the clerk and finally called another employee to come in so I could be checked in. The MIA employee finally showed up. Apparently she was "helping a guest with their computer". I didn't believe that for one minute especially since she didn't even know how to fully check in a guest without asking questions to the other clerk that arrived after being called. Overall the hotel is okay. I've stayed there numerous other times in the past and this was the first bad experience I've had. The hotel is close to the interstate and has two fast food restaurants and one convenience store within walking distance and I would...
Read moreA group of us go to Cleveland twice a year to visit our friends up the street. I am going to strongly encourage the rest of the group to stay here (and I encourage you too). The team at this Best Western is fantastic. They are friendly and go out of the way to help. For example, I had an amazon delivery during my stay (fitbit charger or something of the like). I did not remove the address from my list of address, and somehow managed to make this Best Western our default address. There is nothing like being a consumer, so as I was sitting on my couch at home placing orders for random items that I probably do not need, these items were being shipped to Best Western. They have been very understanding and patient, and I am grateful.
In terms of location, there is a Popeye's literally next door... i am from GA and have been a loyal Chicfila customer for as long as i can remember, but man, those Popeye's spicy chicken sandwiches are pretty good... i think i may even prefer them now (bold statement which i may need to retract). Also, there is a Walmart just a couple of blocks away, so you pretty much have anything you could ever need by staying here at Best Western (gas station in Walmart parking lot).
In terms of sleep, bed is great... very comfortable. They have a hot meal, but I am out before it is available. Parking easily available - no charge of course. Easy access to 59 Little common area downstairs to hang out with friends. in conclusion, really like this place and will return. Hope you come for...
