My boyfriend and I stayed here for a track day and it was located a few miles from the track. It was convenient to stay here, however, it does not come without some hiccups.
The first thing that I had issues with was contacting the front desk. I had checked in through a digital check-in and put in that we would be arriving late. Well, we were running a little later than we thought, so I decided to call different hours as I was directed to the voicemail every time I called. I convinced myself that it would be okay since it was digital and we should have already been checked in. We got there around midnight and the audit said that we were given the last room and that he would have to turn away the person he had it assigned to. I asked why the mobile didn't work and he said the employee discount wasn't working. I couldn't see the screen so I couldn't analyze the issue and try to figure out what would cause that since no routing is involved with it. We gout our room though as he put it at the nightly rate then converted it to my discounted rate that I initially booked. So it's okay in the end. Just stressful.
Next, quality of the room was okay, but there was some mold underneath the shelves in the tub. Honestly not a big deal to me, but just something to keep in mind for housekeeping to look out for. The comforter on my bed also had a brown stain on it, like someone had shoes on the bed with dirt left behind. I was too tired to really do anything about it as again, it was on the outside layers. The sheets themselves were clean so it was fine. Just another note for housekeeping to look out for.
Overall, as I said, it was convenient for us to be here, otherwise it probably wouldn't be our first choice for a "luxury" stay. It was good for what we needed it for. We were just glad to have a place to stay at the end of a stressful and long night of getting there. Staff was decently friendly and laid back. Being from an HIX myself, I knew what to expect, and I think as long as you're not a high maintenance or picky traveler, you'll be fine with this...
Read moreWe booked two adjoining rooms, one was mostly fine, the other was a disaster. I have never been so disgusted in my life and can not believe that IHG allows this hotel as part of their brand. I exclusively stay at IHG hotels and have never had a bad experience, until now.
Immediately upon entering the room it smelled, horrible. Like a combination of urine, mildew, and wet dog. It was very damp through-out, the sheets felt damp, the carpet felt damp. I have mild asthma and severe allergies and knew immediately there was mold or some other allergen The smell seemed to be coming from the air conditioner, so I pulled the filters out. They didn't appear to have been cleaned for a year. I checked the filters in our adjoining room and they were clean, however dryer sheets were shoved into the air conditioner.... Like a cheap air freshener? There was mold and mildew all over the bathroom ceiling and walls in the smelly room. The wall paper was peeling off. The ceiling in the room looked as if there had been a leak at some point, hidden by texture paint. I would not at all be surprised if there isn't significant water damaged being hidden.
The staff was nice, the pool was nice, and the breakfast was nice, but this horribly gross health hazard of a room outweigh all of that. I would've asked for a room change, but we were traveling with a disabled adult and really needed the adjoining rooms. I assumed since they put us in that one, it was the only...
Read moreI've been staying at the Cloverdale HIE nearly every year since it opened in 1997. I come down for the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400 weekends each year and make sure to have my rooms reserved here. The staff is always very friendly and helpful, with the rooms always clean and neat when we open the door. The main complaint that I'd have is with the television channels available and the quality of whatever satellite service they use. It seems like there are always a couple of channels with very poor reception and seems like it's usually at least one channel that we really want to watch that weekend, such as FOX when they are broadcasting the Coca Cola 600. Also, how in the world you can be in Indiana and not have SPEED channel on your TV lineup is beyond me! Since most motor sports are going to be on NBC Sports Network and the new FOX Sports One channels, I hope they are added to the channel line up by the time I come back next May... Also, I've never understood why we should to pay more for our rooms because we are staying there for a race weekend. Do people passing by and just stopping for the night pay the same rates? It doesn't cost anymore for me to stay there than it does for the guy just passing through. It's not just here, I know it happens all over the country, wherever races are... We do enjoy the breakfast in the morning and always look forward to the hot cinnamon rolls! Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying at this...
