If I could give this hotel 2 1/2 stars I would. We stayed here at the end of September, 2015. We were there two nights to attend a wedding in the area.
We checked in on Friday. I stay at Hampton Inn quite frequently and am a Hilton Hhonors member. I was struck when checking in that they weren't particularly pleasant. Courteous, but not pleasant. Also, usually one gets a bottle of water, or it is offered, plus a small bag of nuts or other snack on check-in. Not here, but then it's an airport hotel. In any case, our room was clean and comfortable.
The next morning, we went down to breakfast, which was adequate, rather than quite tasty. The staff setting up the buffet were helpful if asked, but not pleasant. They didn't smile. They didn't offer a good morning. I admit, we are spoiled, because we stay at Hampton Inns quite often, and one reason is that the staff are always welcoming and pleasant.
We had until mid-afternoon, so after we ate our breakfast, we made a point of vacating our room for a couple of hours so that it could be cleaned. Meaning, the beds made, and the few fresh towels we wanted replaced. We got back early afternoon, and the room was not cleaned or tidied. The coffee and tea weren't replaced. We just assumed that rooms where people were checking out had to be done first. and thought the room would be clean when we returned later that night from the wedding.
It was not. Really, we are very neat and tidy people. I would have been satisfied to find my bed made. No such luck, and the few towels we had left on the floor to be replaced were still on the floor.
Again, the next morning, no smiles, no good morning, average breakfast.
In general, just a sub par Hampton. But no maid service at all. We ALWAYS leave a tip for hotel maids. We did not, this time. This taught us not to just rely on the chain.
I wouldn't recommend this if you can find another similarly...
Read moreClean, centrally located & great service. Whenever I go out of town I typically look for a Hampton Inn. The service is typically great, rooms are clean & the rooms are reasonably priced. This location was no different. Checked in via their website the night before & was able to choose my room. Arrived the day of my reservation and was greeted as soon as I walked in the door & given water. The location has ample parking which made getting in (and out of the Central Valley heat) a huge positive. I immediately checked in and got into my room. The room was very clean and the AC was already running (again, a huge positive when it's 105° outside). Got a room facing out towards Clovis Ave and watched the beautiful sunset. The rooms are nicely appointed. A nice (and strange thing to mention) is the beds do not touch the neighbors wall, they touch the wall where the bathroom is located. This is nice especially since I have been kept up many a night from my neighbors blaring TV. This was not an issue even though I had neighbors on the side of me. Went down at 9am for breakfast (which is served until 10am) and there was the normal selection of waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, yogurt, coffee, and multiple kinds of juices. The hotel itself is very centrally located. There is a Target, lots of restaurants, gas stations and such. And only a few miles from the Fashion Fair shopping mall. When you book, they typically have lots of discounts. Make sure to check those through...
Read moreOur tour company selected this hotel, I won’t select again for a number of reasons. First, it’s not that close to the entrance of the airport and they have no shuttle, and are still using the pandemic as an excuse. Secondly- although we were a group, and brought several clients to stay at this hotel, they wouldn’t honor the group rate for us upon check in. |Third, although I had reserved a room months in advance, it appeared they saved a sub standard room for us. When we opened the blinds, we actually looked into the back of the concrete wall that holds the “Hampton” sign outside. Besides being dark, it also smelled musty and the cords for the television were missing. In addition, this was clearly a room for the disabled, and I find it discouraging that this is what they have as an option for the disabled. |The negative points could have been alleviated by at least honoring our discount, as they had rates jacked up higher than usual for Memorial Day weekend. |I’m still giving 2 stars rather than 1 because thank goodness for coffee and breakfast, and the front desk woman did try to accommodate us, even though the manager was able to hide in back and tell her to tell us “NOPE”. |If you’re loyal to Hampton, there’s one closer to the airport, as well as other well/known brands near there. Nice to have options...
